A delightfully mild aromatic

Original Choice was actually one of my first aromatic mixtures into the aromatic foray, back in the late 1990s, and it's still one of the finest. It's milder in toppings than the 7 Seas Line. 7 Seas are heavily topped and American focused. It's cavendish based, with a smaller proportion of a very high-quality golden VA. It's sweet and mild in body and strength. The Cavendish and VA are meatier than most aromatics and they shine in this mixture. They're complimented by lightly applied toppings. The toppings don't contribute any sweetness, but they instead offer varied nuances of fruit and spice. Those nuances vary: sometimes it's vanilla and cherry, other times it's vanilla, black currant, blackberry and cinnamon. First light is bright and fruity, but it settles down and I definitely got a strong hit of cinnamon on my last session. The room note is mild, sweet and exquisite. No bite at all - none. This is a great aromatic blend that has a great taste and is consistent every bowl full. The taste is one of vanilla, caramel, and sweet. Not too much though. The nicotine hit is noticeable and high if pushing. My tastes have traveled away from aromatics in my pipe smoking journey and usually prefer Burleys and VAPers. I have a bunch of English that I don't smoke anymore along with the aromatics, but this, wow ever since the first time I tried I loved it. Decently good, will keep on hand but not for the cellar for me

I am not a beginner piper but at the same time I am not a seasoned piper. I found this blend was a bit temperamental at the beginning. I found it was better after I gave it time to "decant" some. By temperamental I mean it isn't just an easy mindless smoke when first starting to smoke this. It took me longer than normal compared to other blends, took me just a little more time to figure out the pack and tempo and I haven't been able to have a consistent experience each time. As a daily smoke, this is a great tobacco. Aroma is very nice, tongue bite is minimal, nicotine is moderately high, and it lights and smokes easily. If you want a slightly richer version that's still very enjoyable, try Black Ambrosia.
