Latakia indeed with some spices. Burley, & Virginia just to add. Good strength just hit me right. If you love Latakia, you're going to love this.

A burley forward blend

To me, burley is the star of the show in this blend. I expected a Latakia forward smokey traditional English based on the name but was pleasantly surprised by the strong burley notes. The taste is smooth and delicious with medium plus strength (that burley can sneak up on ya if you get to puffing). The high quality fine ribbon can be packed pretty firm without any bite. Barrister First time

First time Smoking Barrister, Not as complex as the tin notes. The Latakia for me, played in the background, The burleys and Perique took most of the front, with the Virginia's coming in and out with a nice grassy over lay. It does have musty leather taste with hints of earth and nut from the Burley. The Perique adds some nice peppery spice through out the bowl. The Nic hit I would say to be Middle Isn't really to noticeable until Mid bowl. It was a nice smoke, but I wouldn't go for this one if you have a sweet tooth....Read More

I recently saw a video review of this C&D mixture. It was recorded by C&D's Master Blender, and he mentioned the higher content of Latakia content of this mixture. Barrister is a good, solid English blend, but probably will not appeal to a new pipe enthusiast, or one who prefers aromatics. It has properties of leather, and is balanced out by the Burleys and Virginias. A bit of perique, however, would have added to the pleasure of smoking this blend. Give it a try.
