quot; tobacco produced by Cornel and Diehl. "Opening Night" is advertised as a blend of pure Red and Bright Lemon Virginia flake tobaccos. It comes from the tin ready to rub out or stuff in the old burner - I smoked a first bowl in an English Tilshead Freehand briar, taking the weed straight from the tin, and it was one fine puffing experience. After a lunch of vegetarian pizza (give us this day our daily pizza) I rubbed out and dried a bowlful for 20 (twenty minutes) before smoking. It wasn't wet out of the tin, but sometimes I think letting certain tobaccos breathe a bit helps bring out the flavors. Anyway and anyhow, after the 20 (twenty) minutes had elapsed, I gently stuffed the stuff in the old Wilmer 3 (three) star flame grain briar - a pipe that loves those Virginny tobacs. This second bowl was smoking nirvana! The smoke started out subtly sweet and spicy, at mid bowl it developed a yeasty oaty flavor and finished with a nutty and lemonade flavor burst. And it all comes with absolutely no bite, no matter how you sip it or puff it. This is one of the finest Virginias I ever smoked! It has the spice of a gentle Oriental (without any Oriental tobacco - all Virginia), it has the tang of the best McClelland Virginia Red Tobacco (just not as pronounced as the McClellands' were), it has the yeasty oats of Rattray's Hal o the Wynd, and it has as much nuttiness as Gawith's Skiff Mixture. THIS OPENING NIGHT WEED IS ONE OF THE BEST VIRGINIA TOBACCOS EVER, EVER, EVER!!! And it has a good amount of nicotine - after smoking the second bowl, I had to eat a spoonful of sugar and lay down for a bit - it snuck up on me, I never saw the nic hit coming; like a left hook from Mike Tyson. Opening Night has a rich Virginia taste, yet it is soft and herbal -- not sharp and grassy. Natural sweetness and medium nicotine. This compares favorably with GLP Union Square.

is rich, full, and flavorful, while the last half of the bowl is candy sweet nirvana. I believe this to be the best tobacco C&D produces, and would also go as far to say that Opening Night rivals SG Full Virginia Flake and is vaguely reminiscent of the old Mcclelland's No. 27 matured virginia. ow good it tasted and make sure it was real. I haven’t been able to smoke anything else since getting this. I bought this along with Union Square which is also great, but didn’t have an immediate “dear lord” effect on me. This straight away jumped to the very top of my list and will probably remain there. It takes the best parts of Capstan blue and Orlik and puts them together. If you’re into straight VAs do yourself a favor and try this. Probably adding an 8oz to my next order. Read Less

ave aged 3+ years are really good and this one will age well too. One thing that I picked up on right away was that it's sweet, smooth and wont bite you as far as I can tell. It does burn well and gives a little spice which I like that's pretty consistent to the bottom of the bowl. As far as nicotine, I'd say it's right at the medium mark.. It's an enjoyable smoke for sure and paired with unsweet tea makes for a good experience. I would buy this again. Read Less

Pretty good but nothing to write home about.
The problem might be that there may or may not be some burley in this, and I don't really care for burley. So if you don't like burley in any amount, you might want to pass on this.

달달함이 적당하고 룸노트도 약하다.

Straight VA is not my first choice, but this is good stuff. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a good, no-nonsense tobacco. If C&D ever reduces their voluminous offerings, I suspect they'll be keeping this one on the shelves.

My favorite straight virginia with no casing. The flavor of bright and red virginia melt nicely together (a bit more red-oriented which I do like). You need a good pipe and a slow cadence to really savor the natural sweetness of virginia.

ll the characteristics that Virginia tobacco is noted for. It’s pressed and sliced with some wait time in between so the flavors are well combined and in harmony. Initially, I didn’t like it. Folding and stuffing wasn’t the right approach. Further rubbing to get the particle size down resulted in an easy to load, light and smoke blend that is quite tasty, sweet and grassy as you might expect. I’m giving it four stars because of the extra hassle in rubbing it out. On the plus side though, leaving it as broken flake helps it maintain a very good moisture level. Looking fir a good Virginia, you might just give this a try...as a diehard Burley smoker, that’s quite a leap. Read Less

his one. Every nuance ascribed to Virginia is literally right on the tip of your tongue. I love Burley but if I were to chose a Virginia as a regular indulgence, this would be the one. The guys at C&D really did it on this one. I now own three more tins and have suggested it as a must have to my closest local tobacconist...be sure and start with a truly clean pipe.
I did fold and stuff for my first bowl using shards on top to start things up. The flavor is obvious and right now. It holds together well and makes for a really enjoyable light puffing experience. I also cleaned up 4 other Petersons so I’d have some back ups...then there’s the newish Estate 264 with a nickel band and a view of Opening Night after breakfast tomorrow, front porch beckoning in the cool morning air.
