When I first smoked this, it didn't blow me away. Over the course of a year, however, I find myself regularly returning to it. Especially in the afternoons when working at the desk, and I'm in need of something stimulating, but not overwhelming. This is Oriental forward, with the right amount of latakia to compliment. I admit it I am a Latakia light weight. All the standard English blends were too much for me. Red Lion is definitely an English blend but the Latakia is toned down to a back note swirling in with the Basma. Perfect after dinner smoke for my taste.

A Nice Yet Unremarkable English

I'm smoking Red Lion as I write this, and it seems to me that this is an excellent blend for the English lover who doesn't want to be challenged. And that's not a put-down or criticism. It's well balanced, with a slightly spicy background. Not overly laden with Latakia (though I love Latakia) I could easily see myself smoking bowl after bowl of this, not tiring of the flavor for it's medium strength, yet flavorful taste.
