My favorite blend for a cool smoke with the whiskey notes coming forward but a mild sweetness and generally smooth back notes. Definitely will be keeping it my standard rotation.
Simply great

Fantastic blend... Nuts and chocolate hints with vanilla undertones. Great with a cup of coffee on a crisp morning.

Why does this only come in pouches and not tins or bulk? Besides that I really enjoy it a lot

t job of balancing the two. A bit mild for a medium blend, but still quite satisfying. The baking bread and hay of the virginias, along with the toasty cocoa of the burley conspire to form something delightfully relaxing. Smoked in a Peterson system bent apple spigot, this is a combo not easily overlooked. Four stars....Read More

I dont really notice the chocolate, the vanilla or the Blossom fruit. I do notice a hint of irish whiskey and smoked walnut as the main profile.
It's a very smooth, good quality smoke, just not what i was expecting.

've tried that comes in pouches, and since it's so cheap, it makes a great blend to throw in a pipe roll or briefcase for odd occasions when I want a smoke. The smoke doesn't linger, and is overall very pleasant. There's a good, honey, apricot sweetness, with just a hint of spice. The room note is a lot like fresh bread and smoldering hay (maybe not the most helpful, I know but it's the best I can think of). I find that it goes delightfully well with Monkey Shoulder Scotch as well. I would love to get this in larger tins, or even bulk bags, but don't let the pouch stop you. It is well, well worth the price of admission....Read More
The Peterson Rifleman Finally Suffers An FTF

ht is cigarette smoke. Soon after the char light it was still apparent I wasn’t pleased.
Though this is supposed to be an aromatic, I could identify that vanilla and chocolate flavor only halfway through the bowl, and it proved elusive as it disappeared after no more than two draws, then returned about ten minutes later, then vanished and never again resurfaced for the remainder of the Group 5 bowl I was smoking. A recurring thought through the three bowls of Irish Dew I’ve smoked: “Did Peterson really blend this? I guess it did...” For the entire blend seems uncharacteristic of them, in terms of its quality. It seems more akin to cigarette tobacco than to its sisters, Irish Cask and Royal Yacht. Well, even the best actors often deliver a dud film, or a “bomb”. And even the best rifleman or gun expert can experience an FTF—a failure to fire, or a failure to feed. This is that moment for Peterson, I believe. 3.5 stars....Read More
