About This Pipe
American artisan Abe Herbaugh is celebrated for his organic, Danish-influenced shaping, defined by crisp lines, graceful curves, and well-considered accent materials. This Tomato exemplifies his approach, demonstrating a skillful reimagining of traditional Anglo-French forms through a distinctly modern lens.
An asymmetrical interpretation of the classic design, the pipe features a subtly lopsided bowl, with the broad, squat head carrying extra mass along one flank, shifting the composition's visual weight to one side when viewed from the fore. An upturned shank follows the bowl, curving upward before meeting a flared ferrule of horn, which itself joins a demurely curved saddle stem. The horn's natural brightness adds a welcome contrast to the pipe's earthy palette, while a textured sandblast dresses the stummel and reveals rippling grain throughout.
