About This Pipe
Pipe maker Jerry Zenn sets out to craft every pipe to reflect his dedicated intention and persistence. He enjoys utilizing natural materials to accent his pipes, such as bamboo, special woods, and horn. This is a precisely shaped iteration of the bent Apple from the Taiwanese artisan, the pipe's shape closely resembling its namesake. Zenn has done an outstanding job refining the pipe's curves to the point that, from afar, it looks as though one could press a finger against the bowl and face a firm, but soft, resistance. The shank is a brief affair, all the better to spotlight the three-knuckled rod of bamboo. The shank's brevity and slim width also serve to shift some of the attention to the bowl's pristine shape. Faint striations of sandblasted flame grain around the bowl guide the eye from the soft, uplifted heel through a skillfully rendered, round wall toward the rim. At the other end of the pipe, a flared accent of boxwood joins the thick rod of bamboo to a thin slip of vulcanite stem. Zenn's juxtaposition of organicism and sleek modernity makes for an all-around attractive pipe whose beauty is sure to be admired smoke after smoke.
