About This Pipe

Pipe maker Jerry Zenn sets out to craft every pipe to reflect his dedicated intention and persistence. He enjoys utilizing natural materials to accent his pipes, such as bamboo, special woods, and horn. This is a precisely rendered iteration of the Tomato from the Taiwanese artisan. An organic asymmetry informs this Tomato's outline. The bowl's aft wall swells more prominently than the fore, evoking the appearance of a real tomato. Furthering such a comparison are the supple curves that nurture the bowl's plump shape. Zenn has done an outstanding job refining these curves to the point that, from afar, it looks as though one could press a finger against the bowl and face the kind of firm, but soft, resistance that defines the perfect tomato. The gentle yield of this pipe's curves make their way into the rim as well, which melds seamlessly into the bowl's thick waist. The cusp of the rim is crisply defined, with a glossy, minutely chamfered edge circling the chamber. Out back, a horn shank extension flares gracefully from the cheeked transition into a slim boxwood accent whose shape is echoed in the finely shaped expansion disc gracing the stem's base. With this Tomato, Zenn has thoroughly demonstrated his exceptional attention to detail. It's very clear that this was a work of dedication and love.
