About This Pipe

Crafted by Jeff Gracik, J. Alan pipes are revered for their refined shaping, beautiful finish work, and exceptional overall craftsmanship. Moreover, J. Alan pipes are known for their hand-cut stems featuring distinct lip buttons that make them easily recognizable to connoisseurs of the brand. This "Angular" Dublin is a prime example of Gracik's singular style, and speaks to his ability to balance supple curves with firm, structural lines.

The stummel is underscored by a sweeping, gestural curve which is particularly clear on the left side, emphasized by a crisp ridgeline. Said ridgeline wraps around the heel of the bowl before subtly fading into the shank's right flank, giving it a beautifully asymmetric teardrop shape. The bowl also combines gentle curves with crisp ridgelines: The arcing, oblong rim features one of said ridgelines, and so does the chamfered inner portion, which establishes a lenticular appearance, especially with the round chamber in the center. Aside from the birdseye-laden, beautifully chamfered rim and shank face, the stummel wears an earthy sandblast that reveals the briar's fine tendrils of flame grain and tight stacks of ring grain with impressive visual and tactile clarity. A stunning exhibit of Gracik's shaping, finishing, and grain-reading abilities, this distinctive Dublin is sure to feel right at home in any collection of fine pipes.
