About This Pipe
Before he became a pipe maker by trade, American artisan Micah Redmond took up carving as a hobby. He eventually took his craft to the next level under the mentorship of Premal Chheda, and he is now a full-fledged artisan who not only produces his own pieces, but also serves as an integral part of the BriarWorks team. Redmond's style is marked by supple curves, compact proportions, and muscular, American shaping cues. This asymmetrical bent Dublin certainly fits that style, and it features several organic flourishes that contribute to its unique aesthetic.
The bowl of this bent Dublin is simultaneously angular and plump, with an inflated, partially plateau-crowned rim framed by three crisp ridgelines: one on each flank and the aft side. The bowl is also quite squat, with a shallow but deeply curved heel flowing seamlessly into the underside of the sinuous shank. Said shank is joined by a lithe, lengthy stem with saddled shoulders that add another touch of angularity, as do the ridgelines that trace along the sides of the shank. A natural sandblast dresses the stummel, revealing the briar's rippling waves of ring grain while staying true to its natural color. With its asymmetrical shaping and stain-free finish, this pipe is well-suited for the smoker with naturalistic sensibilities.
