About This Pipe

When one thinks of the living legends of pipe design, the Ivarssons are, no doubt, the first to come to mind. The reason is evident: the family boasts a history and tradition of perfectionists, from Sixten, to his son Lars, to his granddaughter Nanna — each not only continuing to uphold the precedent set forth by the elder, but developing it, molding it into his/her own unique style.

Nanna, for example, worked with her father Lars from a very early age — reportedly selling her first pipe at the age of nine. She moved to Copenhagen at eighteen to apprentice under her grandfather Sixten, where she fostered her own creativity while mastering the Danish master's art of perfection. This mastery of form and line allowed her to take both her father and grandfather's teachings to heart and transform them into an art-form all her own — an art-form heavily influenced by the Danish Contemporary Design movement, which she experienced hands-on during her time at Denmark's Design school.

And so, one-third Sixten, one-third Lars, one-third contemporary design — this is the foundation for each and every Nanna Ivarsson pipe. A foundation that she has continued to build from and perfect over the years, resulting in some of the most beautiful and sought-after creations on the market. With its natural feel in hand, a Lars-like teardrop ridge flowing along the right flank, a form shaped to showcase the block's grain pattern, and proportions and lines perfect in every way, this Blowfish — as Nanna and the Ivarssons call it — is certainly one of those creations — as only Nanna Ivarsson can produce.
