About This Pipe
Johannes 'Suhr' Rasmussen's journey into pipe making is a continuation of a legacy. The grandson of legendary artisans Poul Rasmussen and Anne Julie, Suhr inherited both the lineage and passion of pipe craftsmanship at an early age, crafting his first pipe at just eight years old. Under the mentorship of Tom Eltang, a master in his own right, Suhr honed the technical skills of artisan pipe making, and over time has cultivated a style of his own.
This Rhodesian by Suhr is a lightweight creation, showcasing the Danish design aesthetic for which he is well-known. The bowl rests on a dramatically lifted heel, and along with a well-defined transition, makes the bowl particularly prominent in profile. Notably, the bowl features widely spaced double beadlines, and in contrast to the rusticated surface of the stummel, the area around the beadlines is smoothly finished in a lighter stain.
The shank is set low against the bowl, accentuating the bowl's height and visual dominance in profile. The softly uplifted shank leads to an elongated, slender vulcanite stem, which, combined with the lightweight nature of the pipe, ensures a comfortable smoking experience. Overall, this is a striking piece from Suhr, perfect for anyone seeking a reliable smoker, complemented by a clean Danish aesthetic.
