About This Pipe
German pipe maker Werner Mummert is known for the eclectic, wide-ranging style. Showcasing his diverse skillset, Werner crafts anything from traditional, Anglo-French-style Billiards to this eccentric, avant-garde Deco Poker. The pipe makes the best of both form and function, with elements both stylish and practical. As for its practical elements, the Poker's featherweight build makes it easy on the jaw. It's got a moderately capacious chamber, which, being in the sweet spot of depth, lends itself well to being a versatile smoker capable of hosting a variety of blends and life's occasions.
Like most Pokers, this pipe has a cylindrical bowl that sprouts tall and proud from a flat heel. An understated sandblast highlights faint strands of flame grain blowing across the bowl's walls, affecting the appearance of paint streaks — especially given the vivid, multi-colored stain dressing the stummel. The shank is comparatively long, terminating with a brief slip of vulcanite fashioned into a saddle stem. I always really enjoy seeing what Mummert comes out with, and this Poker is no exception. The pipe does well demonstrating his playful style, and it will make a standout piece in any smoker's collection.
