About This Pipe Tobacco

Extravagant is the right word to characterize this mixture. We have revolutionized the traditional old English art of blending. The main ingredient is the finest spicy smoky Latakia. By adding highly aromatic Black Cavendish, this blend becomes smoother. A small portion of Burley gives a slight toasted aroma, and a pinch of bright Virginia brings a subtle sweet note. Mellow, but yet full-bodied aromas of honey and fruit essences result in a unique flavor. This tobacco will surely be a delight.

Who made the dreadful decision to package this in a non-airtight tin and leave it to transform into something that could be ground into snuff? I’d easily rate this 5.0 stars and buy gobs of it, but the tobacco has arrived bone dry each of the four times I’ve ordered it. It’s so bad that I’m constantly trying to find a substitute blend. This is easily my favorite blend. Sadly, your chances of getting it with a reasonable moister content aren't high. Sometimes I get it and it's literally crunchy like dried leaves, and it loses all it's flavor.... Really depressing because if it weren't for that, this tobacco might have given even legendary English blends a run for their money. They just need to change the tin packaging. This was part of my 1st order of REAL pipe tobacco. Had no idea if I would even like it or not. Probably the most favorite out of all I ordered. This one wasn't too, but it also wasn't so dry that it was crumbly. The only real way I can explain the tase at all, as I'm kind of new to the pipe smoking scene, but for me it's like having black leather in your mouth. My vocabulary is quite limited when it comes to this pipe stuff, but boy did this backy provide some delicious flavor to smoke. I'd buy it again & again with each order.. in fact.. I think I will. Very dry, but still it tastes good.

I grabbed two tins of these back in Feb. '24. Little did I know, then, the bag inside wasn't sealed. So I am not sure if it was dry, even back then. I just read reviews for this today (Jan. '26) and decided to check mine. And yes, it was "CRISPY" dry. So I transferred both tins into a 32 oz Mason jar. I added two Boveda packets to the jar; to allow it to sit for a week or so. I also "snuck" out a bowl's worth to smoke right now. And if you've ever smoked any "Tabac de la Semois" offerings, you'd know with extra-crispy-dry tobacco to pack the bowl "TIGHTLY/FIRMLY." I did so and lit it up. This is one of the better tasting 'Aromatic' blends I have yet tasted (started piping in Jan. '24). Granted, and you should know, I do "NOT" enjoy Aromatics. I give away, or throw out, nearly all Aro's I have tried over the past two years (nearly twenty of them). But I did enjoy my first bowl of this. I'll let the rest sit in its jar with the two Boveda packs and try again after a week or so. And if this doesn't help...I am happy to leave it dry and crispy.
