About This Pipe Tobacco

Sir Walter Raleigh pipe tobacco was first introduced in 1927 and is currently produced in the United States. Sir Walter himself was introduced quite a bit earlier, the 1500s in fact, and became known for many deeds of valor and courage, as well as the man who popularized smoking in Europe. A Burley blend with hints of anise and molasses, Sir Walter Raleigh Regular has been a popular favorite of countless smokers for generations.

I, unfortunately, was not into pipe smoking before STG acquired this. I heard great things about it, so I purchased it as one of my starting blends. Well, exactly as you must have seen everywhere by now, this tobacco is just plain unpleasant. The only note is vinegar, and I find it to be way too strong. I don't know what STG did to this blend ... but when I opened the pouch, I get smacked in the face with a heavy vinegar smell. It caused my eyes to start watering. And it wasn't just one pouch. A tasty burley smoke. IMO- as good as a double priced tin. Try it and prove it for yourself. Not strong, burley prominent, no dicerable nic hit with no bite. Smooth smoke, non aromatic.
