A Truly Classic American Pipe Blend

Cornell & Diehl Pegasus is a wonderful example of a traditional American pipe tobacco—straightforward, satisfying, and built around honest tobacco flavor. The Burley provides the backbone with its familiar nuttiness, earth, wood, and cocoa-like depth, while the Virginias add just enough natural sweetness to keep the blend balanced. The Black Cavendish softens the edges and gives the smoke a little extra roundness without turning Pegasus into an aromatic. What I enjoy most is how comfortable this blend feels. It has that old-school American character that makes it easy to imagine as an all-day smoke: flavorful enough to hold your attention, but never so intense that it becomes tiring. Splendid work by true Master Blender

This one is the blend where true art of Master Blender is demonstrated to all. I thoroughly enjoyed this blend though wouldn’t call myself Burley connoisseur. Burley takes the main stage providing its usual nutty taste with a touch of bitterness, not unpleasant one I have to add. Virginias and Cavendish take the back stage providing some additional taste and sweetness while smoothing down typical Burley harshness rather well. Blend is exceptionally well balanced. IMHO it tastes best in large briar pipes. I have especially enjoyed it in my extra-large Northern Briars Poker. A truly excellent blend which I intend to add to Irish Flake as part of my Burley rotation....Read More
