Enjoyable for Some, Not for Me

Product: Cornell & Diehl Americana 2oz
Delivery: No issues whatever. I seem to live in a magical part of the world where, in spite of trash USPS delivery on all other things ranging from money orders to medicine, tobacco makes it to my mail box early. There may yet be hope for the Republic.
Packaging: C&D makes a fine product. Seals were all good. The tin should keep the product just fine.
Flavor: Not much to write home about. This was my first Latakia. I get mellow nutty stuff from the burley and some bright acidity from the Virginia. The Latakia doesn't overwhelm. Plus, the stuff isn't too moist. So on a scale of 1 to terrorist beeper, it smokes at about a 7 and I don't have to spend all my time relighting.
Room note: Not unpleasant. The Latakia adds this meaty quality that is fine for a few minutes. Then it starts to get on my nerves.
Strength: This isn't the strongest tobacco. It ain't Gawith 1792. This stuff made me sick as a dog. Dunno why. Don't let that put you off....Read More

I'm new to English blends, but this is absolutely beautiful. The natural nuttiness of the burley melds with light virginias for a touch of sweetness contrasted with the smoky latakia adding a pinch of spice. I can't taste the black cavandish, so I assume it's used to add body and help balance the blend....Reminds me a bit of a dominican cigar, creamy nutty, earthy with a nice body with very little nic hit....I would highly recommend this blend, especially if you're a fan of Connecticut shade cigars....Read More

Sip it patiently, it will treat you. slight creaminess from the latakia without knocking out your taste buds, nutty from the burley. Dry mouth if smoked hasty. Take your time. Not strong but satisfying nic hit. Pleasant all day smoke, not too complex with surprising undertones every other sip here and there! Thumbs up!...Read More

I tend to like English blends as my staple but almost equally enjoy burley blends. I'm a fan of Pegasus and this could be a runner up if that isn't available ever. It's one of those blends that isn't spectacular. Just something with a mild, smooth flavor that you can puff on all day long. Solid Burley blend with the cavendish cooling it down and the Virginia and Latakia providing a subtle and barely perceptible interesting note. Does lean more towards an English than a Burly but in a quiet way....Read More

I don't get this blend. I don't get a sense of "memory lane" at all. And I don't get what C&D was trying to achieve in terms of flavor. I just didn't enjoy it. Tried it for a few bowls, in both a cob and a briar pipe. Now I've given up. This is a blend I just don't get.

What a unique blend! Such a good surprise! The smoky Latakia is tempered by the burley, black cavendish, and Virginia. Right away I was struck with a sense of nostalgia somehow, which I know is tacky considering the name of the blend. But nonetheless, echoes of camping came to me, and the aroma and taste of chestnuts over an open fire. There was a faint sweetness and nuttiness. Americana was pleasantly mild and smooth, but there was enough going on to keep the blend active. This was a completely pleasurable smoke and is definitely one of new staples!...Read More
