Really nice English blend

I love English blends that have a little Burley in it. It almost counters the Smoky Latakia taming it down a bit and making it a more smooth, mellow smoke. It's not like a light English, it still has some punch, but its still a very smooth smoke and highly enjoyable. Product: Cornell & Diehl Awakened Elder 2oz

Review after 1 year jarred. A sweet, spicy, and dark tin note. The latakia is sweet and smokey, akin to BBQ smoke rather than campfire. The orientals are forward, so much that I would consider this a variation on a Balkan. They are fragrant and incense like. The perique brings a welcome spicy tingle on the retrohale. It is dark and figgy. The cavendish rounds out and mellows the smoke, leaving very few rough edges if any. The cigar leaf takes a real back leaf and is not entirely evident until after you've cleaned out the bowl and given it a sniff. Nic hit is just a touch past medium. Leaves a pleasant scent in your nose, and doesn't overpower your palate. The slight age on this tin could have mellowed out the cigar, in a very pleasant way. Not an all day smoke, but could be a few bowls a day. If you're a fan of GLP Horizons but were wishing it were a tad spicier, this is your blend. Absolutely heavenly....Read More

After a long hiatus I resumed pipe smoking 6 years ago. The reviews have been helpful in pointing me to tobaccos to try. This tobacco is not listed on many other sites but I’m so glad it’s offered here. Just a wonderful interesting smoke. It’s one of the few I smoke in succession

So far all the lovecraftian blends have been worth trying.

Product: Cornell & Diehl Awakened Elder 2oz

To date I've tried Innsmouth, Miskatonic and Awakened Elder and all are quite good. Awakened Elder here is mildly sweet with a tad of smokiness and spice. The cigar leaf gives this blend a little umph and the Katsuri adds an interesting flavor profile to the overall blend. This is one of those blends that matures and changes mildly throughout the smoke. It's an interesting smoke, not consistent from one bowl to the next. This isn't about any variation of the leaf but it's more like each bowl you smoke you zero in on different nuances of the smoke. Overall this is a very interesting blend best suited for quiet contemplation. Would be a fantastic smoke while reading one of Lovecrafts novels....Read More
