I get a slight citrus tin note something akin to a blood orange sent. What I do get is a rich and complex smoke with a spicy retro hail. I gave it a four and a half out of five , because the last third of the bowl got very strong. I consider this a very good blend and will stay in my rotation.

This stuff is deceptive. Fresh out the tin, Dreams of Kadath is awful. The topping overpowers everything, the VAs bite, and it is so flame resistant, I listed it as a key ingredient in a 'potion of resist flame' in D&D. But some eldritch stuff went on over a year in the jar I put it in. Opening it, I smelled straight up wine. I salivated, man. I could cut it into flakes and cube it flawlessly with zero breaking. The ribbons took to flame like my 6 year old takes to pb&j; joyous and continuous. A year later, the flavors have married to the point that the topping aids it marvelously. Grapes, molasses, berry tea, raisin bread. And the nicotine is absolutely on point; relaxing and made me reach for my ginger ale. My God, this stuff is delicious. With absolutely zero bite. See? Eldritch nonsense. I will be stocking up on this blend heavily. In my opinion, this is probably the second best plug I've ever had. I had to dock half a star on account that this plug takes a year to activate its eldritch powers, but once it does, it is absolutely wondrous....Read More

Full on grape flavor, then comes the zing of the leaves, cool, flavorful, tasty. The flavor lasts and accompanies the tobacco, which in turn gives it some pop, and boy does that flavor pop, I smoked an entire bowl of this stuff and it's awesome! I'd give the flavor a 4.5, all around!...Read More

When I first tried this blend, it was the first blend at the time that I tried with dark fired kentucky in it. Was worried about what I would think of it. Upon opening it I got punched with smokey, sweet, and sour essences. Didn't really know what was what when I first tried analyzing it and breaking it down. Was sure if the sourness of the blend was associated with perhaps the orientals of the blend (which do sometimes add a little) or perhaps it was something else. Being now a long time later, now being much more experienced and familiar with other blends (such as blockade runner and navigator) I realize that the sourness of the blend is heavily attributed to the fact that this blend is heavily based in rum in the blending process. Could be why this blend comes very moist in the tin. If you do not dry this blend out it will leave moisture in the bottom of your bowl, but if you dry it too much out I have found it can come across as harsh and losing key elements of its distinct favor profile. I enjoyed this blend the way it was intended, by reading some of HP lovecrafts "the Dreams-quest of the unknown Kadath" while smoking. The blend surprisingly goes incredibly well with the mysterious and unknown elements of the book, being as that I was not quite able to wrap my head around what kind of blend this is. Sweet as a virginia, but lacking the composure, Smokey as a burley blend, but lacking the percentages, as complex as an English blend, but lacking the latakia. It's perfect for a night time read, with your thoughts intertwined within some cosmic horror. (I did knock off half a point because sometimes half way though the bowl the blend can turn bitter and acrid, but this can be avoided with proper drying, and slower cadence)....Read More
