Fall has finally arrived and it is time to reach for seasonally appropriate blends. Typically this is the time you reach for your favorite latakia mixture, unless you are like me and do not care for latakia. If that happens to be the same case for yo... Read More
u may I suggest giving Exhausted Rooster a try. The dark fired gives it a fuller body but never overpowers the virginias or perique. There is some sort of top note on here that adds a wonderful sweetness that compliments the mixture well. I highly recommend giving this blend a try! Read Less
Nice and Smooth

Medium-thick sliced, perfect flake. Burley does not appear much in the tin note, which is balanced grass hay and dried fruit. Thorough rub-out brings out more sweet grass and a faint spice note. The dash of burley comes to life in the smoke, adding a... Read More

Not the worst I've had

I think my tin was a little green. Wasn't what I was expecting based on the reviews. Wasn't sweet, bit like a SOB and was pretty harsh despite my sipping to the point I needed multiple relights. This blend reminds me of the entire line of MacBaren, h... Read More
as that topping that's not noticeable until your taste buds are burned off. Gonna cellar it and see if it mellows out and develops some flavor other than harsh ash. Read Less

The sweetness of the Virginia is muted by the Dark fired Burley and the Perique is barely noticeable. Some age should improve this blend. I might get some tins to cellar before the FDA turns this rooster into a capon.

Some great flavors going on here. I'm about halfway through my tin, and I have nothing but good things to report. A wonderful blend; all the components and added flavors are in perfect proportions. There's clearly an added flavor but it's very mild, ... Read More
and it compliments the component tobaccos wonderfully. I was apprehensive when I first broke the seal—thinking I'd bought an aromatic—but it didn't translate to a fruity nor sweet smoke. After two days that berry smell mixed in with the nice component tobaccos' aromas. This blend is where the line between Burley and Virginia gets blurred (at least for me), and per usual, the Perique is the proverbial salt & pepper on top of the dish. The nicotine level is about a 5/10, maybe 6; it's not crazy. Considering it was blended for the Chicagoland Pipe Show, with favorable flavors and a medium strength, it seems to me that this will agree with a lot of different palettes. I'm a huge C&D fan, having bought and smoked about 30 of their blends, and this one's easily one of their best. Read Less
I bought it for the tin art

I’ll be honest, the tin art was the main reason I bought this but it turns out, I love Va/Pers and this is one of the first Va/Pers I ever tried. I’ve never reordered it but I was quite sad the day I finished the tin.
I don’t smoke all that often I ... Read More
have lots of good tobacco on hand that scratch the same itch as this.
It’s on my list to reorder once I finish off my Three Nun’s, Billy Bud Blonde, and Haddo’s Delight.
If you like any of those blends, I say give this one a shot. Read Less

Tin note of Rasins, spiced rum and fruit syrup. the mostly brown Flake, is moist, but not overly so. Rubs out with a little effort, no drying needed. Burns normal with a few extra relights. The strength is medium and nic is medium. Flavoring is very ... Read More
mild in the background. Taste is medium to full and somewhat consistent, with notes of herbal raisin spice, sweet grass, toasty nuts, wood, earth, floral, bread, mild dark fruit, mild tangy orange, mild sour plum, and a peppery retro. Virginia is leading with Kentucky supporting and Perique filling in when needed. The flavoring is there too, hanging around in the background. Room note is pleasant to tolerable, and aftertaste is outstanding. Read Less

This blend is a very nice, smooth blend that fills a rotation nicely. Nothing bad to say about it, nothing overly outstanding either. But this blend will never let you down

I am smoking a tin purchased and opened back in 2012.The fragrance

the virginia comes through if smoked slowly, and it is good.I am not having to swab out my pipe every five minutes, either. The multi layered tin liner has maintained the humidity level just right. This is (in my opinion) for smokers who have a tolerance for the nicotine component, but don't let this frighten you off.Try this if bored with the run of the mill full mixtures. - Carl Read Less
