About This Pipe Tobacco

In the New Orleans Mardi Gras tradition, no confection is quite as synonymous with the season as the colorful King Cake. Beginning on Epiphany, January 6, the streets explode with parties and festivals, bringing together family and friends in the spirit of Mardi Gras. With that very same intent, Cornell & Diehl created this Cellar Series blend to honor the New Orleans staple. Experience Mardi Gras like never before with King Cake.

Estimated peak: 10-15 years.

This blend was originally released in July of 2016.

Product: Cornell & Diehl King Cake 2oz
First opening this time you get smacked in the nose it's hard to take it all in. Very yeasty ,
Bread note heavy with the sweetness to it
Which is exactly what you will taste for the first half of the bowl then the prete kicks in and you get a spicy note.
Overall I would not buy this again
but it was definitely an interesting experience...Read More

Plum, bready cake, subtle sweetness and spices. This aromatic smokes well and doesn’t bite. Easy to break the cake apart and no need to dry. I bought two tins, one to age and one to try now. My open tin has 6 months of age and I think it’s already good as is but the aging potential is absolutely there. Next update in 10-15 years....Read More

Ordered a tin after a freak out of the Mac Baren Sutliff debacle that caused a large order of my favorites. Cellar 10-15 years is the suggestion, made it 15 minutes. Not going to go crazy here with all the subtle nuances available in this blend. First off hay is the strongest for me in the tin. Wife tells me she wants to bite it. Very enjoyable and will add this to my regular rotation. Sweet from casings, sweet from tobacco, earth flavors as well as alcohol from rum and the rum at the bottom. Good work, keep it up, we need great blenders now more than ever. Update. Smoke this with my new cob woodsman with 1792 whiskey to sip on and WOW!!!! The slight back of the tongue whiskey aftertaste is pulled away from a bath of cool smoke, while a touch of spice hits the tip of your tongue from perqiue?, and pulls the whiskey farther. Damn, taking the wife to bed now....Read More

I am always on the hunt for a light/not terribly sweet aromatic to break up my routine of English, Balkan, and Dark Kentucky blends. The Perique is something that draws me into these Louisiana style blends. The Perique is forward for my palette. and that is from a very intimate experience of smoking C&D's long cut perique meant for blending but as a bowl by itself. if you don't understand perique then I highly recommend buying an ounce and having a small bowl, and also cut it up and use it as a flavor enhancer in your favorite tobaccos.
this blend is sweet but not overly sweet. it is a round flavor that is sweet, savory, and a touch spicy.
