Good regular smoke.

Product: Cornell & Diehl Virginia Gentleman Bulk
For day to day smoking. English blends tend to be a little intense. This blend is a good filler as a smoke to use as a day filler. It has a sweet nutty undertone that hides on the top of the tongue and a solid earth tone that hangs in the back of the... Read More
mouth. Nothing about this tobacco stands out as amazing but it possessed a calm subtlety that is great for passing time or smoking while you work on something. It can bite but it's pretty mild. All in all I'd like to have alot of this on hand as just my regular smoke and leave the really complex stuff for my evenings and special occasions. Read Less
great everyday tobacco

Product: Cornell & Diehl Virginia Gentleman Bulk
I have been smoking this daily for over twenty years and never get tired of it. Full, rich flavor with no bite. No fruit or liquor flavors, just good satisfying tobacco, with just enough mild, unobtrusive turkish to remind me of the camels I used to ... Read More

Mild, a little bland, and very dry
February 10, 2021
Product: Cornell & Diehl Virginia Gentleman Bulk
This tobacco comes very dry. It’s necessary to humidify it before smoking. It has very little flavour, but a somewhat sweet taste and smooth texture emerges when the humidity is right. It took me 15 days to finish the 16 oz, and it was notably stale ... Read More
by the end, despite refrigeration. I found some fermented or moldy clumps towards the bottom.
For the money, it’s usable, but you certainly aren’t getting the quality of a good tinned tobacco. Read Less
Nothing to write home about

In the right pipe, this could be an all-day work-and-play blend. For me, there's just not enough to keep me interested. I may come back on occasion, but it's not a favorite.
Spice, Wood and Hay

Product: Cornell & Diehl Virginia Gentleman Bulk
Initially, VG is bright; grassy hay, tart/sour and the spice from the Orientals prickles the gums, cheeks and tongue. 1/4 way into the bowl, the Orientals become predominantly ashy, musty, buttery, woody and sour. The spice continues to prickle. V... Read More

I think Cornell & Diehl is good at blending like making a natural tobacco taste a star of the show. Virginia Gentleman is one of the best blends to understand its technology and direction. Without losing the taste of Virginia which makes up the body ... Read More
of this blend, Burley and Oriental are dressing gentlemen. Easy to pack and burn cleanly. Ash is also beautiful. The taste is consistent up to the bottom of Tobacco Chamber and leaves no moisture. It is simple but not bored. Read Less
Not That Interesting

Product: Cornell & Diehl Virginia Gentleman Bulk
Not bad just not really very interesting. Glad I didn't order more than 2 oz to try. I ended up giving it to a friend and he seems to enjoy it.

Mild and smooth flavor throughout, although relights made burley burn, still a satisfying smoke with good sweet flavor, nic hit was high at end of bowl and hit me quick and hard.

At the first experience I did not like it as it was light and then after smoking more than one bowl I started to discover how delicious the blend is, 5 stars for sure
Good for diluting Latakia mixtures
June 28, 2021
Product: Cornell & Diehl Virginia Gentleman 2oz
I found this blend to be most useful for reducing the proportion of Latakia in Oriental-heavy mixtures, like Hearth & Home WhiteKnight. It's a pleasant light smoke on its own, and rewards proper hydration and a slow technique.
Good every day smoke

Product: Cornell & Diehl Virginia Gentleman 2oz
This is the blend I grab when I'm working in the garden/painting the fence etc. It is a pleasant flavourful blend that you don't have to think too hard about.
Good basic smoke

Product: Cornell & Diehl Virginia Gentleman 2oz
This tobacco shows the importance of a master blender. Cornell and Diehl has blended Virginia, Burley and a little Turkish tobaccos in such a way that no one of the components overpower the other. It is a smooth smoke that doesn't offend the taste bu... Read More
ds or the stomach. It is a little dry, but is ready to smoke right out of the tin. There is the normal amount of relights, but overall smokes evenly and not hot. This is a basic smoke. there is no toppings just the taste of the tobaccos. The room note is not exceptional, but also not unpleasant. For those that smoke all day, you wouldn't get tired of this one. This is mostly a Virginia smoke, but with a little extra character. The Burley shows up a little at the end and the Turkish can provide a little spicy zip to the tongue at times. A very good tobacco. Try it if you like a smoke without a lot of flavorings. This is a smoke for people who like the taste of tobacco. Recommended. Read Less
A Famous Virginia Gentleman Who’ll Never Get Cancelled
October 01, 2020
Product: Cornell & Diehl Virginia Gentleman Bulk
The ribbons of bright, golden Virginias, dark brown burley, and brown Turkish is pleasing to the eye, and though not necessarily savory or delicious on the tongue, make for a pleasant, easy smoke. This has no ambitions to be a keenly flavorful and co... Read More
mplex blend, like Orion’s Arrow or Poplar Camp. It succeeds in its aim: to deliver that pleasant, easy, Virginia-forward blend that our founding fathers surely puffed—their blends that carried no toppings. No added essence of fruit or liquor, nor honey or vanilla. Just unadulterated old-fashioned Virginia-forward American pipe tobacco with more than a little fresh hay flavor. An added bonus is it won’t burn as hot or bite like pure Virginias or aros. I imagine the Genius of Monticello and the Old Warrior of Mount Vernon nodding in approval. 4.0 stars. Read Less
Surprisingly Good

Product: Cornell & Diehl Virginia Gentleman Bulk
I'm surprised that it took me as long as it did to try this . I've been looking for a Virginia blend with a little "Ooomph" and Derringer, though good in its own right, was wearing a bit thin. This blend has a little sweetness, a little s... Read More

rley selection for when a change is in order. I’ll keep my mason jar handy as I do with Burley Ribbon Cut and Cube Cut Burley, preferring straight up tobacco flavors in favor of many other possible choices. Regardless your personal preferences in an everyday smoke, you should give this a try as it’s a good friendly smoke and amazingly underrated. I’ll look forward to trying it in pipes other than my favorite briars but so far I’m perfectly satisfied with the pipe/tobacco combination. Read Less
