If this were a wine it would be a full bodied, perfectly matured Cabernet Sauvignon. A Virginia based blend with a subtle touch of Latakia which many find to be both a fine introduction to the world of English blends as well as a great mix for those who prefer a less dominant Latakia.

pfire, but also that of a dusty barn. There’s almost a curry spice funk to it that I found interesting.
To look at it there’s nothing special just a lot of light to dark brown with just a little bit of black speckled in there. One thing that I noted was It Is very dry to the touch. It was very springy in the bag, which is typically a characteristic that I like.
It’s got a nice sweet wood smoke taste to it.  this has to be a result of the Latakia because it reminds me more of Burley than it does Virginia sweetness.
It’s very light in the taste while at the same time being full of flavor. By that I mean, it’s a good mouthful of tastes but it’s not real heavy. Kind of like whipping cream is delicious but it doesn’t fill you up. If I detect any leather or iodine - especially in the beginning - it’s on the retrohale and not on the smoke itself. I think Yale Mixture would be an easy all day blend for many folks.
One thing that I noticed as the bowls progressed - the warmth of them grows, and the latter Kia has a nice evolution and becomes more pungent. The smoke is all, but transparent I’ll provide a picture but the deeper you go, the more punching it which is a very nice evolution and enjoyable experience.
As good as it is, I can’t help but think that it would be improved if it went one way or the other, either more lata key or less. I’ve use this excuse on other blends, but I think the balance is almost too perfect and no one is really stepping forward and being the superstar of the show. It’s obviously very good Virginia’s and Ladki when it shows itself is very delicious and I might be asking for too much at this point I really don’t know. What I do know is is that I like it but I don’t love it. I think it’s a little bit boring but at the same time I think it’s got great flavor in depth so I’m not really sure how to improve it beyond tinker with it.
I’ll call it interesting. I think interesting is fair. I think interesting is also not insulting at the same time not making it out to be greater than I think it is.

A dry cool smoke is the only way I can describe this. I have always liked the aroma and taste of English blends but found then to be overpowering. This blend is exactly what I have been looking for.

excellent smoking characteristics (lights well, packs well, burns evenly in a variety of sized pipes). It's not the most full-flavored or complex English, but it isn't trying to be, and it has just enough Virginia sweetness and peppery Latakia to be interesting to puff on while reading a book or winding down after a long day. Is it anything really special? Not really, but some blends just come together really nicely in their balance of flavor and aroma, and this is a fine example of one. Some blends are just so perfectly done (Dunhill 965 comes to mind), that they just hit the spot. Yale Mixture reminds me of the Dunhill blends in that it is excellent quality and smokes really really well. It will not blow you away, but you just may find yourself reaching for it again and again when you're not sure which blend you want to smoke....Read More
