ri Pride.
Started the day with this blend, literally. Had a bowl in the way to, and after , going to the gym this morning. And that worked because it’s is a very soft English. The Latakia was not too bold, but present and nice. I don’t drink a lot of coffee; this morning like most I opted for Irish Breakfast tea ( no sugar , touch of crème) and it was perfect together.
The Virginia drives this delicious blend, the burley and cavendish adding some backbone and support and the Latakia is almost condimental here. Well done.
At lunch I ran out for an errand and caught a quick third bowl. Smoked faster and hotter , it forced the Latakia up front a bit. Just a promise of leather and iodine.
I see a 1/2 lb coming my way soon , to cellar a year and revisit.
My rating : 4- this is good - I’m ordering some to have around when I am ordering something else

Sweeter than Constellation and Less Latakia

on the tongue, and which derives its sweetness from the black cavendish, Old College has more VA and less latakia. A note on that sweetness: sweetness from the cavendish is different than say a virginia... it's less sharp and isn't as deep. That difference is akin to candy (virginia) vs a pear (cavendish). Old College starts out with a toasty/smokey/nutty sweetness to it but then as the bowl progresses, the blend becomes incredible bland after the first 3rd of the bowl. tastes like ash and burns hot.

Mine could have had a bit more moisture but it was okay. The aromatic quality was very faint but noticeable. Semi smokey, no bite.
