Product: Cornell & Diehl Byzantium 2oz

What a wonderful tobacco! Plummy, Figgy, stewed fruit, pepper spice, hints of floral incense... it's not sweet, but it's not bitter with a great smooth retrohale that's got a hint of that pepper- It's surprisingly complex for a mere 3 tobaccos. For me, it's Perique, Orientals, and the Latakia just brings them together. Great fine ribbons- burns well and completely. Premium Balkan...Read More

I ordered not knowing what to expect. It dankness smelled thru the manila envelope. First thought was Smoked Black Pepper Ribs. Thru the water pipe it wasn't as spicy. Heavy Smoke with a medium brown ale flavor. Captain Ahab got to the bottom of the barrel. Will buy again.

Everything a discerning smoker of stronger blends needs. A good straight-forward blend with no frills, no bite, and no fuss. Burns down to a very nice white-grey ash and needs almost no relights. Orientals work well with the latakia and perique, with just enough spice and smoky flavor to appease any English or Balkan smoker. There's an occasional hint of sweetness coupled with a strong taste of dark fruit, and a whisper of zest from the orientals. I can't say enough good things about this blend. Easily my #1 tobacco. Just buy an ounce and try it....Read More

After smoking this blend a half dozen times or so in a half dozen different pipes, I have come to the conclusion that this is one of my favorite English blends I've ever had. Not just because of the smell, taste, or complexity (which are all outstanding) but also because it burns so cool. Zero tongue bite, and my pipes never get above a comfortable degree of warmth. And I am a mother puffer lol. Highly recommend this blend and I will definitely buy more to cellar....Read More
