About This Pipe Tobacco
Part of HU Tobacco's African line, the Nyala blend features Red Virginias, Malawi Burley, Perique, Havana leaf, and a touch of Brazilian leaf. It's a medium-bodied blend with a rich, vibrant flavor profile.
Customer Reviews
After trying that, I was able to extract the true flavors and that funk took a backseat and became more of a subtle exotic-woodsy funk that actually compliments the blend nicely.
The flavor profile reminds me of a white chocolate raspberry truffle with some jungle like funk mixed in. To be transparent, I dont have much experience with cigars with brazilian leaf in it, so its hard for me to describe how it affects the blend, though Id assume its contributing that, "jungle like funk", I had mentioned.
Certainly a unique smoke. Would classify it as sort of a, "dessert codger", that pairs well with coffee or after a mid afternoon slice of cheesecake/dessert, though could be smoked at during any time of the day.
To a pure virginia smokers, this blend is worth it if you enjoy red Virginia's and don't mind Burley. Don't be intimidated by the cigar leaf as it isn't overly rich or strong with nic. For the codgers, I'd recommend if you want to try something a little different. It's certainly a tad bit richer and sweeter than your typical codger blend. English smokers might not find this exciting. And as for cigar smokers, don't go in with expectations of the cigar leaf in this blend. It certainly isn't driving the bus, but adds nicely to the flavor profile.
Overall, an interesting and unique blend. Not something I smoke in my rotation, but enjoy pulling out every once in awhile to mix things up. At 3.5 Oz a tin, it's perfect for cellaring and pulling occasionally for a rich, unique smoke.
Altogether it deserves a above average 3.75/5....Read More
