I’m no expert, being a noob and all, but I feel like there’s some wizardry happening here. At first blush it has a very ‘Monte Cristo’ vibe about the aroma and taste. There was a notable thick and creamy oiliness to the smoke. Not having much of an experienced pallet, I have a hard time comparing this to anything else.

Everyone should remember their first taste of pipe tobacco. For me, that first taste was Mac Naren’s Black Ambrosia. It’s been years since I first sampled this but I still remember opening the tin and the figgy blast of fruity cavendish really struck me. Not surprisingly, there was a bit of tongue bite that came from inexperience but I still remember it fondly 15 years later. Ages horribly

Smells of dark berries out of the tin. Smokes decent the first couple of times---not particularly flavorful---but over about 2 weeks dries out quickly and is left with a chemical smell and a hot, ashy taste. I ended up throwing the rest out. A waste.

Not what I had hoped for

The tin note is similar to Holger Danske Black and Bourbon, but smoked there isn't much going on. It's OK, just rather blah. I'll stick with the Holger Danske.
