About This Pipe Tobacco

Introduced by the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. in 1907, Prince Albert was named after Edward VII, known as Prince Albert before being crowned king. The portrait of the prince was based on one acquired by the tobacco company at a tea with Mark Twain.

An ultra-classic blend of Burley and Cavendish, with just a hint of cocoa and molasses, Prince Albert is the sort of all-day blend your father or grandfather might have smoked, marked by a timeless flavor and exceptional room note.

Simple burley goodness. A true all day smoke. I don’t get much of the topping unless sipping very slowly. The burn rate is a little on the fast side but still good, and this tobacco never requires a relight. Flavor is straight slightly sweet nutty, Burley. Vitamin N is there but not over-powering. After trying so many different blends from many companies this is always the tobacco that I always find myself coming back to. The familiar tin note always draws me back in with the scent of raisins and cocoa. It always stays lit the entire bowl and is gives such a mild and easy smoking experience which exhales billows of burley smoke. A blend that I can pack over and over again in one session which is something that I normally don't do. I can’t say enough how much Prince Albert is my favorite codger. The moment you open the container you literally smell raisin bran cereal. It smokes a little on the dry side, but the burn is very consistent. The flavor is a very gentle burley with a sweet note that accents every draw. It even retros nice with a full flavor and nothing harsh. I found out through my family grapevine that my great-grandfather smoked Prince Albert and they all recalled how wonderful the smell was. It’s one if the big three every pipe smoker should have on hand at all times. Also, for my fellow experimenters out there. I made. 75/25 mix of Prince Albert and C&D Green River Vanilla.
