For wood stoves, indoor fireplaces, reading, coffee, splitting wood, shop work, porch sitting, offshore fishing in gulf stream for mahi and wahoo (this blend really shows off in high seas).
And turkey hunting of course.
Probably my favorite all around to tobacco.

An interesting blend

Opening the bag, this blend immediately hits you in the face with a smell that's something like vanilla coke. My bag was pretty moist, so I let it sit out for about an hour before packing.

The smoking flavor was extremely mild, if not for the bag smell, I'm not sure I would've been able to pick out the flavor of the topping at all. The tobacco flavor is front and center, predominantly the burley; which I was not at all expecting from an aromatic, and then there's a creaminess and bit of sweetness under that.

This is one of the blends I would describe as a "high quality codger", it actually reminds me a lot of Prince Albert, but mellower and harder to keep lit....Read More

Some background, I started smoking a pipe about 3 years ago. Like most new pipers, I started with aromatics like captain black, 7 seas and many others. After tasting several different ones I headed into Virginia blends and later englishes. Since then every time I think “I’ll try an aromatic again. That one sounds good” it’s always a huge let down. They all taste the same to me. An artificial neutral chemical taste that’s hard to describe. And that’s what I get with Optimum. Sure, the first minute of smoking I picked up on a subtle raspberry taste but it vanished quite quickly. I’m sticking to my Virginias and englishes. If you’re a huge aromatic smoker you’ll probably like it. I just don’t get the point of smoking aromatics anymore. They smell great but they don’t taste that way…....Read More

I don't smoke a lot of aromatics, but I do when I'm indoors. This is one of my favorites. It has a fruit punchy flavor that stays fairly consistent throughout the bowl. Isn't overly goopy/wet. Very nice room note. Would definitely recommend
