About This Pipe

Trained as an engineer and refined through years of mentorship under renowned Russian artisan Viktor Yashtylov, Andrey Grigoriev crafts pipes with bold artistic expression. Based in Russia, Grigoriev is known for his meticulous engineering, from expertly executed drilling and hand-cut stems to innovative finishing techniques and unconventional design elements. Drawing inspiration from Yashtylov's inventive approach while developing his own distinctive style, Andrey creates highly individual pieces that often feature unique tenon configurations. With a limited annual production and an uncompromising commitment to quality, each pipe reflects his belief that pipes are as much works of modern art as they are functional smoking instruments.

Rendered in compact proportions, this Billiard showcases both Grigoriev's striking engineering and his eye for exceptional grain. The bowl is thick-walled and comfortable in hand, its gently tapering walls culminating in a softly chamfered rim. A muscular, round shank measuring roughly the same height as the bowl maintains the design's compact profile before meeting a thick boxwood accent. This accent houses Grigoriev's innovative magnetic tenon system, ensuring a secure, precisely aligned fit between the shank and stem. Equally captivating is the briar itself, which is remarkably free of imperfections. Crisp cross grain sweeps across the bowl's flanks, while dense clusters of birdseye adorn the fore and aft walls, creating a finish as visually compelling as the pipe's engineering
