About This Pipe
Andrey Grigoriev began making pipes in 2004, and he apprenticed under Russian artisan Viktor Yashtylov early on in his career. Now, with over two decades spent perfecting his craft, Andrey produces fine smoking instruments under his own name, exhibiting a wide range of artistic expression throughout his portfolio. The Apple is a shape not often seen in the artisan's portfolio, making this handsome iteration a particularly exciting find for fans of his work.
Though this is a compact piece, measuring a touch over five inches in total length, it still possesses plenty of character and displays fine finish work throughout. The bowl is affably plump, yet it maintains a proportional balance with the short, robust shank. Said shank terminates at a mount of boxwood, which slants at an angle that matches the bowl's subtle inward taper. The mount also demonstrates a concave curve, which is mirrored by the shoulders of the stylized stem whose magnetic tenon can be quickly and easily snapped into place. This construction makes for easy disassembly and cleaning, and lends the pipe an appreciable element of kinetic appeal. There's also plenty of aesthetic appeal to this Apple, courtesy of the stummel's contrast-rich, mahogany stain, which makes a stunning backdrop for the pale boxwood. Masterful in both form and finish, this Apple is sure to make an inimitable addition to any pipe collection.
