ossibly created the high fantasy genre in the process. It would be a stretch to think the tobacco alone made that possible and a discredit to his intellect. Having said that, it's not hard to see what he found so appealing about Capstan. What you may not know is that tobaccos age and mature and then peak. We all like to get a tin and eagerly crack it open and dive right in, but this leads to a lot of differing opinions of taste and experience. Not every batch is the same readiness and it takes careful consideration with a flake like Capstan to know if it's time to smoke or time to wait. I've had some that were wonderfully sweet and bready right away, but I've also had some that were bitter and sort of pungent from a freshly opened tin that benefited greatly from the passage of time. I believe that Capstan is good quality and that it's blenders keep in mind an end result that given various crops of tobacco require adjustments to be made if that end goal is to be consistent. If you find you have a negative experience with this flake, please don't throw it out in haste, be patient and return to it after a week, a month, 6 months...eventually you'll discover why this tobacco is revered. It is a survivor for a reason, don't be misled by rash decisions. Good things come to those that wait. Read Less

点燃后轻嘬一口，满嘴都是让人幸福的甜味，过鼻是很舒服的烟气，不呛人，很香，总体来说，这是一款很优秀，值得每个人品尝，而且尝过以后一定会和我一样爱上它的。

yet. I like to rub it out and let it dry out good first. I like it the best out of a small narrow pipe, but it's smoked great in everything tried it in so far. Stays lit really nice too. The tin note really comes through in the smoking and I love that about it. I will buy more and keep it in my rotation. The Yellow tin is fantastic also but has it's own personality, You can't go wrong with either but I think this one is my favorite of the two. This is the kind of blend a truly experienced piper can appreciate over and over and a newer smoker can pick up and enjoy without a lot of fuss. Read Less

esh bread. It's a great one to smoke in the fall, especially on long walks, but it'll stink up your car and clothes if you drive with it. The only difficulty is the square tin. If you don't smoke this too quick, it'll get dry on you easily. This can be solved if you just smoke through it, or if you put it all in a jar. 听很多斗友都对这款草有很高的评价和优质的抽吸体验。忍不住买了一盒，到手开盒一股酸酸的水果味，觉得味道应该不坏，可点燃之后却和预期大不相同，非常非常淡的香气让你需要用力捕捉才能品味到一丝香气，甜味不算太明显但确实是有，隐约还有一股旱烟味…本以为是新草导致，就养了一个多月，颜色是肉眼可见的从亮黄变成了棕色，感觉应该会变得好一点。再次装斗点燃…还是没啥实质性的变化……现在已经抽真空封存了……等半年一年再打开看看，这段时间是不会回购了……总结就是太淡了……淡到令我没有抽的欲望……

I only purchased one tin, and will likely grab five more. Very enjoyable with a glass of lemonade on a Spring day after watering the orchard.
Temperatures are mid 90° now, and Capstan is becoming my goto smoke on hot days. It's not as heavy, as some of my other favorites. In Summer weather, that's a good thing. This is probably one of my all-time favorites. I went up to five-star. I never tire of it. Read Less

ore and Capstan Blue are in different categories, the former being much darker by design, I found that I prefer the lighter "fruit-drying barn" flavours of Capstan. It smokes easily, down to a fine ash, with no relights needed in the right pipe and with the right pack. It also set my personal record of 1 hour 4 minutes from true light to tap out with no relights.
It is an absolutely delightful long-smoke, and the flavour stays throughout the bowl, at least in my experience, if it is smoked slowly and in windless conditions.
I will certainly be buying more of this in the near future. Read Less

This is certainly a solid Virginia flake, but I think it is a bit over-rated. I can instantly tell that it is a Macbaren product due to the unnatural sweetness. I guess I just prefer my Virginia flakes to be less dressed up.

In all seriousness this is a solid, dependable Virginia. The tin note is all, sweet, bready, velvet-y goodness. That transfers reasonably well to the smoke. Absolutley no bite for me.
Perhaps a little overpriced, and not quite as fruity as Peterson flake, but with time that will come.
A side note for my fellow beer drinkers, this blend pairs(to my palate at least) exceedingly well with Paulaner Munich Lager. Cheers! Read Less

While smoking it the citrus was definitely the first hit to my tongue. Not too strong but quite pleasant. As I continued with my cadence I began to have an after taste akin to the taste in your mouth after you have been out to sea for the day and the salty air has left a slight crust upon your lips and mouth of salt. It took me a while to get to this one. I tried the Capstan yellow and it didn't hit the right spot for me. I found it a little too citrusy as well as strong.

's a bit ketchuppy at first stiff (which is a modifier that might bring to mind another departed tobacco house) That's always a good sign. Make no mistake. This is not a beginner's smoke or even a good first flake. There are plenty of people who think that Va flakes are too plain or "cigaretty".
Old Gowrie (and really Dunhill flake) changed my mind.. The flavor here is so clean, one might easily overdraw it, but I enjoy it frequently in that most dangerous of bowl shapes, the Savinelli 320, and my tongue hasn't yet melted off.. But, with this method, and sipping the tobacco, I found this to be an amazing smoke. The flavor is definitely there, with the mentioned sweetness and caramel undertones. st lashing out after one first light, no I've smoked a few bowls by now, really giving this horrid tobacco the benefit of the doubt. Alas I can tell you that it is foul boardering to unsmokable, leaving you (hours after you've put down your pipe) with a sour and bitter taste on your palette. This lingering vile imprint on my toungh was there the second the smoke hit it and it lasts throughout the bowl (and beyond). is one of prunes and figs with a moderately sweet note. Loading with the fold and stuff method and lighting were a breeze. The taste is very raisiny with little if any Virginia hay/grass present. There is a spice to this one especially when allowing the smoke to enter the back of the throat and come up the nasal passages - not over the top, but present. The smoking experience reminded me of a milder, but slightly fuller in body, Dunhill Flake (one of my favorites). No matter what my smoking cadence, I could not get this to smoke hot nor bite. This was certainly one fulfilling Virginia smoke and I can see why many have raved about it. I have yet to try the yellow-tinned flake yet, but will do so after I smoke more of the blue.
I've tried many Virginias over the years and my biggest complaints were that they were either too grassy/hay-like in taste or they had very little taste and body. The blue Capstan Flake seems to me the near perfect - if not the perfect - Virginia flake. For those who like Virginias, this will not disappoint. All the trouble spent with Sam Gawith's offerings were truly a waste of my time when compared to Capstan Original Navy Cut Flake! As a predominantly Burley smoker, I can smoke this every day and be happy. Truly a 5 star, and stellar, smoke that rates a highly recommended from me. Read Less
