About This Pipe Tobacco
Like the more mellow-bodied Capstan Yellow, Capstan Blue was originally created by W.D. & H.O. Wills of Bristol well over a century ago. It's remained a favorite to countless pipe smokers across generations (J.R.R. Tolkien having been one of its most noted aficionados), a testament to the quality of this fine Virginia flake.

. There is enough depth to keep the smoke interesting, but nothing feels forced or overworked. The sweetness is clearly tobacco-driven rather than aromatic, and the overall profile remains clean, smooth, and composed from beginning to end.
As with most flakes, a little attention to preparation pays off, but once properly packed and lit, Capstan Blue rewards you with a cool, steady smoke and very little harshness. It has enough body to satisfy, while still retaining the elegance I look for in a traditional Virginia.
For me, this is an excellent benchmark Virginia flake and one I would happily keep in rotation....Read More

weeks, I found myself craving it's flavor. I tried it again, and loved it. It's now one of my go to tobaccos. I smoke at least one bowl a day of Capstan Blue Navy Cut. I am still new to pipe smoking, so I am sure there are other tobaccos that are just as good with a similar flavor profile that are much cheaper. I just haven't come across it yet. I find is has a slight hay flavor, it's yeasty and bready as well. It goes well with a good beer and weirdly enough, sometimes a glass of cold milk....Read More

ime it comes up. However, it’s what you have access to. Lore aside this is a good tobacco and isn’t too strong for beginners. It is a fun one to have in your cellar, and though it is more expensive than other tobacco’s it can be a nice one to pull out on hobbit day or when you’re inevitably going down the middle earth hobbit hole for the third time this year....Read More
