About This Pipe Tobacco

For Apples & Cream, the folks at C&D combine an all black mixture of unsweetened black Cavendish and a bit of #734 Green River Vanilla, flavored with a proprietary "cream" aromatic and an amount of apple flavoring so generous, that you might feel yourself transported to an apple pie bake-off.

Not the best, but not the worst.

Many complain of no Apple present, it’s there just not as heavily as one would expect with other fruity aromatics. I get it slightly on the retrohale. I get a slight “crispness” that I can only compare to the first bite into a fresh Apple. It’s very slight, but there. I get the same on the beginning of a draw mid bowl. Again very slight, but there....Read More

The C&D Bulk Library Project Apples and Cream Smoking Pipes rating : 3.0 This oily jet black aromatic is comprised of Virginia, unsweetened black cavendish and Green River vanilla. It lights well and stays lit despite its moist appearance.
Three bowls were consecutively sampled in a MM Huck Finn (seasoned). This is a blend I had a lot of high hopes for. I had debated this blend for a while before staring this little project, mainly because 1) the description alluded to “so much apple you’ll think you are at an apple pie bake off (sic)” and 2) while I may not be a huge fan of cherry and other fruit aromatics, I love apple blends. I am a massive fan of Erin Go Bragg Apple Crumble for example. The aroma from the bag however made me temper my expectations - maybe I got a weak sample, but I didn’t pick up Apple. At all. I got more of a chocolate milk mix powder , and quality vanilla. That kind I like - that makes you think of Oreo cream. Warily I had the first bowl. Thin grey to white smoke , pleasant but no apple , and a familiar friend. This paralleled Berries and Cream , with the nice underpinnings of an aro I can get comfy with. Still no apple. But - should note - enjoyable as it is. Second bowl - again - nothing here to offend - nothing to make me say “well this isn’t good” because it is good - it’s just bereft of the the promised apple. Not in the bag. Not in the smoke. Not in the taste. Just nowhere. Mid bowl I do for a millisecond think I’ve found something , but it’s elusive and gone before I can be confident. But …. This smoke does remind me of being a kid , back when smoking wasn’t vilified, and people smoked everywhere. I remember what it was like to be in a Kmart department store and smell a pipe - somewhere - just lightly and sweetly perfuming the air. This is that kind of blend. There may be no apple, but it is as comfortable as an old favorite sweatshirt. Third bowl I’ve decided the rating , and I’ve decided that despite being a “fruit” aro (albeit minus the promoted fruit) that it’s a decent and quality blend , so I push it a little. Yes, you can freight train it to ash. I also have a suspicion that this is a blend that if smoked rough could sour a pipe in short order. Final verdict - the ounce I got doesn’t deliver in the apple but all in all it’s a good blend. Im going to gubenit the benefit of the doubt that maybe I just got a samlle that the apple has either weakened or it just Is less than I can pick up My rating : 3- this is good - I’d buy it on sale Or to get free shipping in an order. This is the 12th of 101 C&D bulk blends I am reviewing, starting with the lowest rating on Smoking Pipes and working my way to the best rated....Read More
The best flavored tobacco
April 01, 2025
Product: Cornell & Diehl Apples & Cream Bulk
It has a fruity aroma and a creamy sweetness.
That's for someone like me who's mostly after sweet smells, not nicotine
It's the kind of tobacco you dream about.
I first bought 1oz to try,
Impressed by her scent, she added 2oz,
And now I'm running out of it,
It adds another 4oz.
It should be noted that it is best to taste with a reading bucket.
To taste slowly, you will feel the taste of green apples

Is the apple in the room with us??

Bought this because I've had an apple tobacco before and it was REALLY good. This one though? It's not it. Like many other people have said, this smells more creamy or chocolaty than anything. It leaves no hints of apple or even scents. After smoking it, the experience felt even worse. It tasted bland and wasn't very good. I'm going to jar it and let it sit for a few months and try it again, maybe it just needs to age. Only reason it's getting 1 star from me is because it surprisingly stayed lit really well, even though it felt damp....Read More

This is the worst tobacco I've tried. I mainly smoke black Cavendish. This had no taste or aroma at all. No room note, no smell from the bag, no taste. And it wasn't just me, I shared it with my buddy and he agreed. It is also very soupy. I let it dry for 4 days and only got it down to 22% At which point, it didn't smoke bad, but it made a hell of a mess in my pipe every time. Not only will I never recommend this, or buy it again, but I'm throwing away what's left....Read More
