About This Pipe Tobacco

Distinctively delicious! G.L. Pease seasons fine red and golden flue-cured Virginia tobaccos with rare condimental leaf, enhancing the result with a subtle vanilla/bourbon topping that is never overbearing. Rare for a blend of its genre, The Virginia Cream delivers on its aromatic promise from the first puff to the bottom of the bowl, while leaving the pipe clean and free of phantom flavors. An all-American blend ideal for Virginia fanciers craving something a little sweeter.

I opened my first tin of this this morning on my drive in to work. The tin note is a pleasant vanilla/bourbon which is the desired result given the topping. But that's where the enjoyment ends. Now, full disclosure, G.L Pease is one of my first loves. I learned how to appreciate the complexities of 'baccy on Quiet Nights and have ordered a lot of Pease tins for my cellar. But this was bitter and harsh right out of the tin, which I contribute to the VA's in it, and didn't get much better. No harm nor foul there. You have to know how to take VA's if you're going to smoke them. After burning off the topping, I settled into more of the Perique which did improve the smoke a little. There was also the agitation in the retrohale which often comes with the addition of DFK in the blend. At the end of the day, a smoke should be enjoyable. That's what keeps us pipers coming back for more. This blend just doesn't translate. Prov. 3:5,6...Read More

Several of the reviews I read online said it’s ok but not for me. First the tin note was ok but didn’t notice the bourbon at all. Smoked four bowls all in different Peterson pipes.
First bowl was ok in the filtered Dublin 999 but after that it was down hill. The tin was dated Jan 25. Perhaps I’ll
revisit at a later date… maybe....Read More

3rd tin from G. L. Pease. All quality tobacco. While I perceived occasional subtle tinges of sweetness, I could not discern the vanilla. The bourbon was easier to latch onto, perhaps when I caught some of the fired Kentucky. I am glad I tried it, but do not see this being a repeat purchase. Not a reflection of the quality of the tobacco, just not a blend I found particularly noteworthy above so many other great blends, particularly by G.L. Pease....Read More

Product: G. L. Pease The Virginia Cream 8oz
I love this blend because it's so easy going. I can smoke it anytime from first thing in the morning until night. The hardy tobacco used is rounded out by a beautiful vanilla flavor. Great for a quick "pick-me-up" smoke, and will surely lighten your spirit
