About This Pipe Tobacco

The Latakia up front, the Virginia chimes in with a bit of sweetness, the Orientals throw in spice, while the Burley provides elements of nut and earth. All are hot-pressed, to marry the flavors into a dark, complex cooperation. HH Latakia Flake is, in short, another uniquely fine flake brought to us from Mac Baren.

Fue el primer tabaco que fume en una corn cob, la primera imprecion fue fuerte se podia sentir el burley fuerte y latakia picando al final un muy buen tabaco pero si eres novato no deberia ser tu primer tabaco de lo demas exelente lo tengo en mi estanteria

I found this little shop in Phoenix by chance while heading somewhere with my wife. (Appointment I think). We went in, and this flake was recommended as a Balkan blend. I tried it, and I am in love!

Penzance Replacement? No. This is it's Own Thing

Allow it to air out and the Orientals become more assertive and compete with the VA for top spot. They are a bit spicy and tickle the tongue, but a musty sourness is the primary nuance from the sun cured. I wish this had a sweeter VA... it would be amazing, but what is there is very earthy and woody. The typical VA sweetness, grass/hay and bread are missing. The Latakia is actually pretty robust in this. Not a Lat bomb, but pretty darn close. I think it's heavily fired. This is a good smoky, verdant, woody, earthy mixture. The VA was too muted by the pressing and not nearly sweet enough. I swear that Penzance has sugar added. Had it been sweeter and the VA more bready and less muted, it would've been a dead ringer replacement for Penzance. Nicotine is 1.5 - 2 out of 5....Read More

I've always felt that English blends are very suitable for a new pipe smoker other than the fact that some people just don't like latakia. English blends can be a little one note. But flake behave and smokes like an easy English but than promotes the burley through the back door. I love to smoke this as a smokey burley blend and great for beginners and pros....Read More

If you like latakia but don’t want a pine forest burning in your mouth, this is the flake for you. Full of smokey latakia goodness, but with other nice things rounding it out.
