About This Pipe Tobacco

Sir William is a ready-rubbed loose cut. Various selected Virginias are the main components in this blend and are responsible for the balanced taste. Dark-fired Kentucky and cured Indian and aromatic Thai Burley is then added, with a subtle whisky aroma rounding things out.

Very Nice, Softly Aromatic Smoke

This is a very tastefully executed softly aromatic smoke that should have some appeal even for the smokers who don't typically enjoy aromatics. I think it's a great change of pace for the "straight" tobacco smoker. This is one of those boozy blends that I sometimes enjoy--Sir William has a light whisky topping. Primarily Virginias with some added dark-fired Kentucky, cured Indian and Thai Burley for taste. I would give it a 5-6 out of 10 for strength and flavor and it's aromatic qualities are just above a 3--noticeable, but not over-powering. The "whisky" does not interfere with the tobacco taste--it enhances it. I could certainly find myself smoking this every day....Read More

Strong flavors, the whisky is there, as also Burley and Kentucky. The smoke is warm, and the temperature goes fast easily. But after a while is not so complex, or at least in my case, it was a little bored at the end. I was quite expected of this blend, perhaps too much. There is nothing bad I can say about this blend. The tin comes in very tightly packed. The unique flavors of the Thai burley really pops. The smokey tones of the Kentucky amplifies this to new levels. My thin was a little on the dryer side but it worked great. Burns smooth but I would say the only downside is it burns fast being a little on the dry side. Definitely recommended for anyone who like a unique spin on old flavors....Read More

Rattray's Sir William is a rich, full bodied blend with a slightly"flavored" difference. I wouldn't call it "sweet" but the slight addition of a hint of whiskey is quite enjoyable. Kind of like rum in a Navy Flake, you can't classify it as aromatic, but if you want that additional flavor along with a very tasty, balanced, and fairly full tobacco blend, this is for you.
