About This Pipe Tobacco

Part of HU Tobacco's Original Warehouse line, the Director's Cut blend is based on a traditional Virginia/Perique curly cut, matured as a rope and then cut into slices. The blend's expressive Virginia notes, strong Perique core, and added Burley are complemented by Virginia Loose Cut and a touch of Fire Cured Virginia.

This price is twice as much as that of the German tobacco website, and I can't afford it.

$40.? It's a pretty basic blend. I almost bought another tin since these morons are still putting Latakia in every possibly decent blend which ruins it. Or making everything else an aromatic for PawsPaws who don't know anything better than a Captain Black scent. Then $40 for 3.5 ounces. Dude.. What happened to Steamworks or Stockton or the non Latakia Pipe Force? I mean cmon with the dumb stuff man....Read More

Stockton and a little bit more

Product: HU Director's Cut 100g
This blend strongly reminds me of the now unobtainable MacBaren Stockton, but with a little extra tang from the loose Virginia. The Kentucky taste of smoked meat is present (to me more than the component list on the tin suggests) and it is welcome. The blend is delicious, and I find works best by just stuffing the coins and other bits into a bowl and lighting without further ceremony, although I sometimes stack a couple coins on top before lighting. The price is definitely a bit high, but if you miss the taste of Stockton this will satisfy you. I have noticed that some of the HU blends have a sort of "buttery" humectant or top, which is present but works well with the blend. I found the tobacco to be moist, but not wet and immediately smokable without drying. Medium nicotine, cool and minimal relights....Read More
One of the best blends

Product: HU Director's Cut 100g
I’m fairly new to pipe smoking, so I hadn’t had a chance to try HU. I was pleasantly surprised to see it available on several US tobacconist’s sites for sale. After smoking a few bowls of the Director’s Cut I feel that I can safely say this is an outstanding blend. Each individual tobacco used can be tasted through nearly every puff. Smooth, flavorful, and oh so creamy, the tobaccos used seem to be superior quality. I mean most of what we get today is high standards, but this just seems outstanding. The dark fired Kentucky adds a great smokey flavor that accents the virginia, perique, and burley. Smokey, nutty, spicy, woody, fruity- a ton of great flavors. Burns well and cool. A slight roughness near the end but never harsh. If you want a detailed review by a long time smoker, check out reviews by Jiminks, or Jim Amash, on a few tobacco review sites. Apparently, the blend has been slightly changed at times, but hopefully now, it’s close to what Hans meant for it to be in the beginning. Edit: Im not sure why anyone would say this has maple or vanilla flavoring, or is wet in the tin. Ignore those comments, Director’s Cut may have a slight sugar topping, but it certainly isnt maple or vanilla! Certainly isnt wet in the tin. It has a bit of moisture but this isnt molto dulce at all. Burns well right out ofcthe tin with very little dottle....Read More
