Product: Rattray's Wallace Flake 50g
Almost as nice as Peterson University Flake (PUF). I have discovered the secret: it must be rubbed out very thoroughly and set to dry for at least 20 minutes. You could even use an herb shredder. Pop the flakes in there, give a few twists, then rub out further with fingertips. It's a bit lighter of body and nicotine than PUF, and the plum topping is less detectable in the bowl. It's like PUF "Lite" or discount brand. Still very good. I've got ten tins aging to perfection in the cellar....Read More

This is definitely one of my all time favorites! It has the most deep, rich flavor from the high quality tobacco's topped with a superb plum flavoring that perfectly complement each other. It was completely bite free no matter how hard I puffed! The room note is heavenly. I went through the whole tin in a few days. Every bowl was consistently delicious π, and put a smile π on my face! Very highly recommend ed! I would give this ten stars π!...Read More

It looks similar to Peterson University Flake, but the Peterson is darker. This was rather harsh, and very difficult to keep lit even while dry. True the flavoring is less noticeable here than UF. But UF is one of my favorites, this went in the bin.

A touch moist in the tin. A bit of dry time worked for me. Aromas of Virginia, earthy burley and a subtle touch of plum. Burns slow and cool. First flavours are earthy Virginia and a very very subtle touch of plum. The burleys take the main stage in the second half. Very earthy and some nuttiness. Medium bodied, mild nicotine and a nice room note. Overall, solid flake and one I plan to enjoy for a long time.
As a side note this is rumoured to be based on the Peterson university flake recipe....Read More

Excellent tin note but mostly from the Virginia. If there is a plum topping it's not very noticeable. Rubs out easily. The Virginia is not particularly grassy. There's an almost cigarette note that must be the Indian leaf. Not a very complex Virginia flake but still quite nice.

May not make you abandon OGS, but it's going to try. Superbly balanced formulation that hits all the right notes.

Wallace Flake is a delicious, medium bodied yet flavorful blend. The description of "plum aroma" is very subtle, and quite enjoyable, and should not be a reason to avoid trying this fine tobacco. This falls easily into the catagory of an all-day flake. Slightly moist in the tin, yet lights well and stays lit, once broken fairly well. Drying it a bit would certainly do well if that's your preference. Either way, this is another excellent offering from the fabled house of Rattray....Read More
