About This Pipe Tobacco

Robert Lewis tobaccos have been around since the late 18th century, with the namesake London shop being one of the oldest in the world.

A classic Oriental pipe tobacco mixture, Robert Lewis' Orcilla Mixture features Turkish leaf, Latakia, Virginias, and a touch of Perique in a ribbon-cut blend. A favorite among pipe smokers for over a century, Orcilla Mixtrue is exceptionally smooth and balanced — perfect as the first smoke of the day.

This is a quality, fairly mild, and consistent blend by Robert Lewis. It’s use in my tobacco rotation is two-fold; it requires support at times, while with others, it lends support. There’s a difference. This is the first tobacco I have ever blended on a regular basis. In short however, there has never been one I’ve blended it with that was at all disappointing. This stuff is awesome! This is a great oriental blend. They are definitely the star player. They're super buttery tasting with a dry woody finish. The Virginia's taste mostly bright to me. I'm not sure if the little bit of spicy fruit taste in there is from the perique or orientals. There also seems to be a tiny bit of Latakia which they don't mention in the description. One of the gentlest, subtlest blends with latakia I've tried. High quality leaf; mouth-filling, yet mild; perfect sweetness-- in style, this compares favorably with the maddeningly hard-to-get Esoterica blends, without seeming like a rip-off of any of them.
