Peter Heding came to pipe making rather circuitously, having first earned a PhD in Biology and having worked as a diabetes researcher. Despite it being no small step to leave such a career, he simply fell in love with pipes and pipe making. After watching an interview with Anne Julie, one day he reached out to contact Tom Eltang, who mentored Peter and helped introduce him to the broader pipe community. After three years of learning and developing as a pipemaker, the time finally came for Peter to make his choice: he bid adieu to the research institute, and the pipe world gained one of its premier artisans.
