Single-blend brands tend to be an eccentric bunch - they can range in direction, style, and prudence from the classic "Presbyterian" blend to something like "Whiskey Sweat-lodge Fruit Basket". The "Five Brothers", originally blended by the (presumably five) Finzer brothers, keeps things simple, though: this is an air-cured, shag-cut Burley. That is not, however, to say that it is without distinction. Those who have reviewed this blend have been quite clear that this is some powerful stuff.
This stuff is simple and great---Elegance in simplicity. Best way to smoke is to find your favorite chair, install a seat belt, pour some straight scotch (or whiskey), fire up--- and get it on!
You will love it.
Gave this one 5 just because of what it is and not what I expected or what I wanted it to be. Pure burley in flavor and strength! Enough already said about burning properties so, if you’re a burley fan give it a try
Wonderful nutty burley flavor all around. However, the nic hit is a punch to the throat and nostrils. It does work very well for kicking up other blends of tobacco. Try adding a few pinches to something dull or weak, and it will boost the flavor and ... Read Morekick. Read Less
[Tin/bag - Faint old shoe leather, dates/plumbs/ dried dark

Carter Hall Match). Little woody here and there.
Interestingly, some good citrus on second light. Little bit

watch out for nicotine kick. Great burn, easy to manage, no
moisture collection. Makes me like Burley, its not cigarettey
to me at all like some Burley's (i.e. Lane Ready Rubbed).
Not sure if I like more than or less than Chatham Manor.
They are different though have some similarities, Chatham
(9 mo aged) is a little sweeter and a little milder after
smoking back to back, with the nuttiness being similar. I
find myself reaching for this more than Chatham lately.

Pack it tight and there’s no need to rehydrate as it burns very well. I like to mix five brothers with blends that don’t have enough nicotine. I also use this to break in pipes to build a very nice cake. Highly recommended

Very strong tobacco. If you have no tolerance for Vitamin N, don't bother. What you get is a very basic, dry, shag of burley. No toppings or casings so far as I can tell. The pouch is sealed in a plastic wrapper and maintains the tobacco's moisture level. No problem smoking it right out of the bag with minimal relights. Because it is in a pouch, it will dry out quickly unless transferred to an airtight container. Shag cut which makes it easy to pack. Burns hot, fast and down to a fine ash. Flavor is nutty with some earthy tones. Room note is quite strong much like a hand-rolled cigarette. I keep 3 or 4 pouches on hand. Strong but manageable. Read Less

This is some strong, straight Burley & is good to stoke in a pipe or RYO. I rather like very strong tobaccos on occasion as well as a strong cigar since I don't inhale anything. I like to keep my lungs free of "asphalt." This doesn't have any flavor to offer other than just plain old Burley tobacco taste which is sufficient if you're just after a Vitamin N blast.
This is simply a no frills, straight up Kentucky Burley that only takes a few puffs to get you going but when you get there, you may not remember where you came from. Excellent blend for what it is with a good price tag. I liked it & sometimes use it to top off a wimpy blend. It was the same taste throughout the bowl, with the nicotine strengthening as I smoked longer, probably my body trying to give me a warning!
I have trouble keeping it lit, which is odd considering the cut and dryness of the tobacco. I only smoke it in a miniature pipe though, and had to dump the ash a couple of times. Nice that it has no problem smoking all the way to the bottom of the bowl.
This is one of my favorites, it is in a league of it's own, when you need a kick, this will be more than enough.
I highly recommend this for people trying to quit smoking cigarettes - have a bowl of this, you definitely won't want a ciggy for a while.
