Privateer is a good blend, pleasant and consistent, yet not exceptional. I may let it sit a bit and revisit it after it has aged a bit longer and see how it matures.

Privateer is a mild-medium English that I enjoy, but I'm not wowed by it either. Smokes very fast, with no bite, and is easy to keep lit. Flavor of the tobacco is good, and I find I enjoy this blend while on the riding mower, or doing yard work. There are better English blends out there, but for a nice, easy, hassle free smoke, this is a good one....Read More

So....i had been using a smaller pipe, aka Vintage Briar Ropp Devil anse. I switched to wider bowl and ...ok, there is more going on. There is cooking spice note going on, like cardamon. Then for me, there is this sharp spice note that cuts through the spice, and every now and then i get this pleasant funk, almost barnyard. The tides flow on this with these flavors coming in and out as the bowl progresses.....i apologize for the last review....except the art and marketing piece, that definitely needs a re tooling...Read More

So let's first start with the elephant in the room; It tries to envoke the Jolly Roger on it. To me, that would be bold, spicy and smoky. This blend, to me, should have a picture of a fireplace inside, with a window showing snow. It is almost a smoother GL Pease Quiet nights, very smooth and almost nutmeg notes with the Burley. the Virginias add a tang which almost makes me think there is a pinch of Perique, and the Latakia is hidden, sometimes popping up. Its not a bad blend, very consistent and smooth, almost sleepy. Just to put a pirate theme to it seems to be a complete miss. FYI my tin date is 3 years old....Read More
