Hot Damn! This is Great!

This tobacco is unbelievable! It is a new favorite of mine. Upon initial light, it is very latakia forward, but as you smoke it, the turkish/oriental shines through and the latakia becomes more mild. This is an easy smoke with lots of sweet, fruity, nutty flavors. When I want to smoke an English blend, I often fear to do so around non-smokers because of the somewhat terrible room note. Because this is low in lat and allows the VA/oriental to shine through, I'm happy to smoke this anythime, anywhere, around anyone. Well, I came back to this now in mid July... Still holds up real well. This is an easy smoke, that is premium in terms of quality and flavor, but the price is also right to make this an everyday smoke, especially in the summer. I've found the level of latakia to be really nice, not overpowering. I would say that this is a great english blend for a beginner, and a solid one in the rotation for a seasoned smoker....Read More

This English ribbon is comprised of Virginia, Latakia and Oriental and presents in colors of tan, browns and black. Aroma includes leather, light smoke, dry grass, and an earthy scent that I associate with clay.

Sampled in a Missouri Pride.

One thing I noticed from the very first light it has a very warm Virginia hay presence. Oriental obviously is the body and it has richness, but the Latakia is very subdued. I would even say the Latakia is more of an idea here than a flavor. Tastes all taken together, the Virginia seems dominant and grassy and I’m not sure that is the intention.

Really wish I tasted Latakia as clearly as I can smell it from the bag. This taste kinda like someone just dumped the remains of an English tin on top of the Virginia tin and kept going.

All in all , to me, this is a Virginia blend with oriental and a dash of Latakia . The feeling is that the oriental should really be the star of the show here, but the Latakia is too weak to prop it up and the Virginia is overpowering and overly sweetened.

I’m not a fan.

I like this a lot. First few times I tried it, I wasn't impressed because I was comparing it to Star of the East. But that's not what this is. It has almost nothing to do with it. As a blend on its own, it's fantastic. It's heavy on the Virginias and Orientals, barely any Latakia present, and that's okay. Stop comparing it to its namesake and you'll start to enjoy it.
