Erik Stokkebye 4th Generation: 1957 1.4oz Pipe Tobacco

Product Number: 003-553-0016

Now in its fourth generation of producing fine pipe tobaccos, the Stokkebye family tradition began with Erik Peter Stokkebye, born in 1855, and continues to this day with bespoke blends, many paying homage to important dates in their family history.

1957 celebrates the birth year of the current Erik Stokkebye, the current supervisor of 4th Generation, and fittingly, the fourth generation of Stokkebye tobacconists. He declares this his favorite mixture: Bright Virginias, Burleys, and a touch of Black Cavendish combine to create a perfect harmony in 4th Generation's 1957. A naturally sweet blend, the soft, creamy vanilla adds to the elegant room notes. Perfect for a relaxing moment any time of the day.

Never been more let down

Product: Erik Stokkebye 4th Generation 1957 1.4oz
I don’t usually smoke aromatics (lie), but when I do, I smoke vanilla. The reviews for 1957 are through the roof positive, so I finally made time, space, and money for it. I’ve never been more disappointed in a tobacco. Shoulders slouched, head hung, an exasperated sigh, let down. I’ll survive, but it will be without this generic pile of cavendish and humectant. Captain Black, 1982, any of the Peter Stokkebye vanillas are preferable. Oh, and it bit harder than Mike Tyson....Read More

This aromatic tobacco was pretty good. Lots of notes of vanilla. It’s a pretty fun smoke, and if you know how to properly smoke an automatic, it doesn’t get very hot. After smoking this for another few months. I move from 4.5 stars to 3.5. It is still good, but I think this is more accurate. It is a bit too cased for my palate. There are better smokes out there....Read More

Tin note of vanilla, sugared fruit and spices. Tobacco is a Ribbon cut of light brown and brown with a tiny amount of dark brown. Moisture content is ok, but most pipe smokers will want to dry it a bit. Burns slow with a few relights. The strength is mild to medium and nic is mild. Flavoring is mild, with notes of Vanilla. Vanilla is most prominent in the initial light but drops to the background afterwards. Taste is mild to medium and moderately consistent, with notes of vanilla, tart and tangy citrus, marshmallow, floral, orange zest, wood, spices, sour vegetation, earth, dark dried fruit, bread, savory, acidic, sugar, mildly spicy, a rich, sweet nutty background note, and a peppery retro. Virginias are leading with Cavendish, Virginia and Flavoring supporting. Room note is pleasant, and aftertaste is good....Read More

A vanilla tin note with a hint of berry. I like the subtle sweetness and vanilla. Well done and well blended. It is a very mild cool smoking blend.UPDATE: It also improves with age. It is a good daily blend.

This blend's tin note is lovely; vanilla and some berries. Overall it is a light blend, i was originally shocked there was burley in there, not like other blends with it in there in terms of lacking body. The flavor is vanilla bean and almost blackberry to me. Very Danish styled. It also should be said it has aged 2 years plus. Does need a bit drying out, but absolutely a relaxing blend that is as refreshing as an iced tea...Read More

It burns really well, but is heavily cased in pseudo-vanilla. Not what I expected from 4th Gen, being one of my favorite brands. This one is just... house-blendish. (shrug)

Tastes good ,smell well ,a little bit tongue bites but you can surely taste the big amount of sugar at the begging of the progress.

The vanilla isn't very strong. The smoking characteristics are good, so it smokes well. It's an ok smoke, but there are better, IMO.

Product: Erik Stokkebye 4th Generation 1957 1.4oz
The tin nose is really nice not too overpowering yet there in force. The false light let me in on the rest of the bowl the room note is amazing, and the taste gets better as the bowl burns to halfway. If you get it hot, the result is a wet dottle of substantial mass, and nasty bite. It needs some breathing time on the board to get to the real flavor of this one. Not as nice as 1Q, but its good The tobacco is nice moist beautiful ribbons of enjoyable smoke. I will buy again 57 was a good year anyhow....Read More
