Nostalgia & Spice and Everything Nice

ould not give this blend much drying time (if any). It’s rich, sweet, a touch of
spice, and far more complex than I originally thought. I initially bought three tins and the other two will spend some time in the cellar for aging. I’m sure I’ll grab some more. -But this is a very nice blend. If you enjoyed Sixpence, this is likely right up your alley. On a final note, I genuinely love the tin artwork. So many manufacturers drop the ball on this piece of the puzzle, but not G.L. Pease. The nostalgic artwork, alongside the masterful high-quality blends he produces, results in the full monty. Another fantastic blend from the Great Pease. Read Less

Will Greg Pease go down as the greatest blender of all time? Time will tell but I have never found a Pease blend I’ve had a complaint about. I’m not sure why Greg Pease decided to name this blend after a peculiar Victorian era bicycle but he can do n... Read More
o wrong by me. A flavorful VaPer with a dark fired kick. I’ve always felt that a shag cut gives much better flavor as combustion is even and effective. Packing is as easy as it comes. The perfect blend for packing on the road or on the go. The shag cut does require frequent tamping but it’s a small chore for a good smoke. GL Pease is the King Midas of tobacco and everything he makes is golden. Read Less

I've always loved the convenience of shag cut tobaccos. I'm also a Virginia lover. So when I saw Pease was releasing a shag cut vaper, I immediately snapped up 3 tins to try. The cut is EXTREMELY fine (shag cut). I'm sure some people will compare... Read More
it to cigarette tobacco, which it does look like. But you can tell its top notch ingredients. The tin note is the typical vaper aroma of malt/bread/hay/grass. Smells delicious! Moisture level is very dry, typical of C+D products. Since it was just released this week, and tinned a couple weeks ago, it's still very fresh and lively. So ridiculously easy to pack and puff on, this will become a new favorite. Sip slowly, as the shag cut dramatically increases your chances of tongue bite. Great bready and citrisy notes in the smoke. So happy to see a great straight up shag cut vaper from Pease. It says it has a tiny amount of fire cured dark Kentucky but I'm not detecting much of it. Good spice from the perique balances well with the virginia. I predict this tobacco will be sublime after a year of age on it. I've given it 4.5 stars because it is a little rough around the edges being so fresh. Hopefully I'll come back in a year and update it to 5! Buy a few to cellar. Cheers! Read Less
Old Camels, eh?

hag. It is slightly sweet and smokey did not overwhelm me by strength so the perique is not heavily added but you can certainly feel it on the retrohale. Burns relativly ok for a shag, they usually go faster but as with all flakes packing it carefully is required so you dont plug the draft. Typical gl pease taste from the same component, think jack knife triple play/six pence in a shag form. I bought few to see what age may add to it but for the time being 3 stars and some change. Product: G. L. Pease Penny Farthing 2oz
If smoked in a smaller and narrower bowl, this blend is worth trying. It demands the smoking technique of any Virginia, or VaPer mixture. My first smoke opened with sweet and bread-like notes. The sweetness comes as a hint of molasses. You also get t... Read More
he grassiness you would expect from bright VAs. What interested me the most is that during the final third of the bowl, I picked up pleasant nutty and savory notes (probably from the dark fired KY) that contrasted nicely with the sweetness.
UPDATE: I let a tin age for more than three years. The blend is sweeter now, which combined with the savory and smoky notes of the dark-fired Kentucky makes for a very complex mixture. I get nice notes of black and jasmine teas that weren’t there when the tobacco was fresh. I would give the three-year-old tin a 4.6 out of 5. Read Less

very smooth right out of the tin and does best in a narrow bowl. (I particularly enjoy it in my little Tsuge Ichirin.). The cut is interesting: not your normal shag, but more like a micro ready-rubbed flake. This one started off well, and I love shag blends. I was smoking this in a Missouri Meerschaum Pony Express that I'd put a longer stem on, so it's a narrow bowl and not very deep. It burned well despite my over-packing it a bit. By mid bowl, though, ... Read More

a's. The flavors are many; it's definitely a melange of different tastes. The thing is, as it gets going it starts to get a bit convoluted. The complexity seems to be out of balance. The further into the bowl, all the flavors start mixing up. All I get is a kind of sweet kinda bitter kinda spicy kinda smoky kinda blah profile. I can tell all the right ingredients are there but they don't play well. Its like a battle in my pipe and all I get is the charred remains of what was once a beautiful blend. It might be the cut. I think maybe if it was a ribbon or a flake it might behave better. It might be the ratios: they seem a bit off.
