As a person who enjoys HU blends I always have something good to say about them. Dark Moor is not to my tastes but as an HU offering it does have qualities other Enthusiasts may enjoy more than I do.
I do let a bowl sit for quite a while before lighting to avoid rough edges and to air out the flavor profile to an acceptable level.

I regret not opening my tin sooner. Dark fruit, cedar woodiness, slight spice. The kentucky leaf lends so much flavor to this blend - almost like peanut brittle that rides along a smokey journey with dark fruit and heft coming from the virginia and perique. Well, so far I’m enjoying the blend. But for me it’s not something that at this price should knock my socks off. There’s smoking sweetness , little spice, but it’s like I’m expecting some more smokiness like from a good English or Balkan. So for me it’s good but my taste buds want that. Wasn't impressed until a good 18 months of aging

First Review:Tin note was light-ish yet muddled. These African VAs I find are too plain/soft for my liking. Wish they offered a smaller tin so I wouldn't have to guilt-keep it around hoping it will acquire flavour with aging. To be more specific I kept searching for the tobacco flavour. Reminded me a lot of certain GH blends which some people seem to really like but I find too airy and lacking in flavour. This is same. The quality of tobacco is good. hoping the other HU blends will do better. I will say I love the tin art. UPDATE: after letting it sit for 18 months it has melded some good character. Enough for me to upgrade the rating from a 3.0 to a 4.0. and I would say it definitely did improve and I've had a couple of tasty bowls. The more bland Virginia eventually took on more character.
