t unique as it does not have the traditional chocolate flavor that is in most, but to me has the best chocolate like flavor. I have come to smoke this blend the most and also find it awesome when mixed with other tobaccos. For a change I may mix the following 1:Add about 25% of your favorite VA especially some fresh C&D bright va with a citrus flavor. 2: Also wonderful is about 25% of your favorite vanillia ( I use C&D Green River) this is a soupy blend but awesome. 3: Another awesome favorite and addition is about 25% RLP6 from lane limited. 4: Lastly I will add a disk of Lane bullsey to equal about 25%. It seems that adding morethen 20 – 25% of another tobacco takes away from the BCA portion to much atleast to me. I have tried and love about all the tobaccos the pipe world has to offer, but these have grown to be my favorite all day smokes. Also after 30+ years of offending others by cigarettes it is really nice to hear someone say “WOW that smells GOOD” My response is that “It taste good too” ; ) Read Less

nstantly in love with Latakia mixtures and then only later deciding to branch out into aromatic flavors to expand my palate. Most would gravitate from starting with something like BCA toward stouter blends. I only mention this to help explain that BCA is quintessential among aromatics. When I finally got interested in trying aros, and if you're new to pipe smoking or aromatic blends yourself, it seems everyone suggests BCA. And, it's for good reason. This particular Black Cavendish is moist, overly sweet, contains only one type of tobacco...all things that most pipers frown upon, and yet this remains a best seller. Why? Because it defies all the naysayers. It's moist, but lights and burns fine even so. It's sweet, but nothing else can satisfy that sweet tooth like it without being sickly sweet or tasting artificially sweet. And, yes it is just Black Cavendish tobacco, a blending tobacco worthy of a bowl all to itself. It's capable of so much more than just an everyday smoke too. It can be used to blend your own mixes, added to strong blends to mellow them out, or added to sweeten just about any blend. I've done all of these things with BCA and buy it in bulk quantities for such occasions. After dinner, when everyone else is having dessert, when I'm in the mood for something sweet, I like to smoke a bowl of BCA...that's what I call dessert! Enjoy. Read Less

onal note, in the first months of my piping journey I found this a perfect mixer to mellow-out the stronger blends, and I'd imagine others will enjoy it for that purpose as well. Finally, it must be said that this is delicious on its own, and it's not to be understated as a blend just for beginners or simpletons. I’ve had a tin sitting around for some time. Just smoking my second bowl. Seems gooey, but light up easy ans is burning well. Mild Sweet taste. A good start for this rainy afternoon in Switzerland. Very nice tobacco.

After smoking CBD I didn't think I could find a Cavendish blend that could compare. Boy was I wrong. Lane BCA, in my opinion, is a much smoother and more satisfying smoke than Captain Black Dark. Will definitely keep this blend on hand.

1Q or TK-6. I usually blend as a 25 to 30% BCA to my various mixtures. It smooths out the "other" aros and allows them to smoke very cool while enhancing the overall flavor. As primarily an aromatic smoker, I have come to rely on this product for a pleasurable smoking experience. I suppose if BCA were to suddenly disappear from the market, I would have to find a suitable substitute but I'm not really sure there is one out there as good. Read Less

wn leaving a fine grey ash, the taste is mild and one note, but present throughout the bowl. The aftertaste is not unpleasant and not too strong. The smell of it is delicious, and the room note is so pleasant. Never got tongue bite, not even when puffed too hard for testing purposes. The only bad points for me on this one are the messy moisture at the end of the bowl that requires some cleaning, and the difference between the smell and the taste once it’s smoked. If you asked me, I would suggest you try it as I prefer this one over 1Q, it's an awesome spring/summer smoke. It pairs amazingly well with tonic water with ice and a slice of lime in it. It’s also a great mixer, just a small amount will sweeten and smooth out any tobacco you add it to. Read Less

of tobacco, I get a good double sealed plastic baggie.
The plastic baggie is a little thicker and keeps the tobacco

Limited is on par with drugstore brands such as Captain Black but is even more inexpensive than Captain Black. I cannot smoke Black Cavendish by itself as it tends to gunk up in the bowl. I feel at the same price point, the Stokkebye Black Cherry Cavendish is much better because it has no bitterness and no bite. You can make this much more enjoyable by blending it with equal parts Sutliff Vanilla Custard and McClelland Three Cherry Blend. Read Less

order of my preference with the most preferred first. Of course these are just my opinions after smoking pipes for 30 years; yours may be entirely different.
1. Mac Baren Seven Seas Black --- No bite, good flavor while and after smoking, good room aroma.
2. Macbaren HH Old Dark Fire Ready Rubbed --- No bite, good flavor while and after smoking, good room aroma. Takes a little handling to prep for smoking.
3. Sutliff (Altadis) B37 Casanova --- No bite, good generic flavor while and after smoking, good steady burn, and good room aroma.
4. Lane Limited BC-A --- Good but not quite as flavorful as the Mac Barens or Sutliff Casanova nor as good a room aroma. There is no bite and a mild aftertaste. It is a little more difficult to keep lit.
5. Sutliff (Altadis) Classic Chocolate --- Nice aroma and a little more flavor than Sutliff coffee tobbaco. Burns fine and little bite. Lingering vague aftertaste.
6. Gawaith Hoggarth & Co. Kendal Dark --- The small ribbon burns well and does not bite, but it has little flavor, aftertaste or aroma.
7. Newminister No. 201 Straight Black --- Mild aroma. Little flavor or bite. Burns fine.
8. Sutliff (Altadis) 203 Coffee --- No taste or aroma of coffee. Ashy flavor. Not good to my taste buds or tongue; some bite. It burned fine.
9. Cornell & Diehl Dark Chocolate --- No taste or aroma of chocolate. Ashy flavor. Not good to my taste buds or tongue; some bite. It burned fine. Read Less
