'Castello' Dublin (KKKK) (2026) Tobacco Pipe

Carlo Scotti brought the Castello brand to life in the late 1940s, crafting his pipes in the same shadow of the Alps as the likes of Savinelli and the Rovera family. Scotti's workshop would eventually yield the independent workshops of Caminetto and Radice, both founded by former Castello artisans, but the Castello tradition continues today with the neoclassic designs that make northern Italy such an influential player in the industry of pipe making.

Castello went with a partial rustication for this Dublin, choosing to allow the brilliant flame grain of the conical bowl to show off with a blonde stain and smooth finish while the shank takes on an elegant, craggy rustication with a dark stain. The latter matches perfectly with the tapered stem of black acrylic it backs up to without an accent in between. The bowl plays a starring role here, fronting the piece with excellent grain that stretches from heel to rim, but Castello's decision to rusticate the shank and color it with a contrasting stain is intriguing, elevating this pipe well above being just another Dublin.
