About This Pipe
Jason Mouton spent his childhood hunting and fishing in the bayous and marshes of his hometown, Gueydan, Louisiana. Under the guidance of his father, a skilled duck hunter, Jason learned to craft duck calls using a lathe. This small hobby undoubtedly influenced his pipe making today. Jay bought his first pipe in early 2016, and at the time, he knew very little about pipes. He simply loved the way they looked and decided to give it a try. That curiosity quickly evolved into a passion, and today Mouton is recognized as a skilled artisan with a keen eye for detail and a diverse portfolio that ranges from highly artisanal designs to classic, familiar shapes.
This Popera is one of Mouton's signature designs, blending elements of the Opera and Poker shapes into a single, functional form. It retains the slim, pinched profile of an Opera, making it comfortable to clench and easy to slip into a jacket pocket, while the flat heel of a Poker allows it to sit upright without the need for a stand. In addition to its practicality, the design makes a striking visual impression. It is finished in a warm sandblast that highlights uniform, stacked growth rings, while the rim and heel are left smooth for contrast. A band of silver at the junction completes the composition, providing a subtle, elegant accent.
