About This Pipe Tobacco
A wisp of incense from the monastery at Leng. Exotic spice from the City of Ulthar. Wine fermented by the ageless Kuranes himself. Only in timeless Celephaïs could these esoteric ingredients be procured. A ritual performed over a bed of Red and Bright Virginia, with hints of Dark Fired Leaf and Kasturi results in an otherworldly aroma that beckons all dreamers back to Celephaïs.
The sixth entry into Cornell & Diehl's celebrated Old Ones series, Visions of Celephaïs combines Indonesian Kasturi leaf with choice red and bright Virginias and dark-fired Kentucky, resulting in a naturally spicy, complex base that's elevated by a unique grape wine topping. The combination makes for a unique aromatic pipe tobacco, with a deep, rich flavor, balancing spice with sweetness, similar to that of a tawny port. Packaged in 2oz tins with stunning Lovecraftian artwork, it's an excellent addition to the eldritch line, and quite unlike anything else we've smoked.

aromatics guy but i found the description intriguing!. Must say its a fun one! No regrets! Ill have to let some sit out to maybe burn off some of the topping so i can get a better taste of those tobaccos though, i got a hint of the dark fired and the tail of the cigar leaf.. but itll take another sampling to get the full picture! A Bit Gimmicky, but Good

moments, it quickly fills the general vicinity of the room with its scent. It could almost be used as an air freshener.
Initial Light:
With the first light I am greeted with the mild flavor of wine and artificial grape. It has a strong tang, yet not unpleasant. It is unlike any tobacco I have tried thus far.
Bulk of the Bowl:
It stayed lit fairly well. The tastes that came through other than the grape and wine were sour, spicy, rubbery, vanilla, and herbal, in that order of strength. Right up front with the grape and wine was enough tang to bring me to sour town; however, as stated before, this was not unpleasant. Just beyond the sour was the spice. The spice was peppery and said hello to the tongue as if it threatened to bite, but never did. When pushing through the nose, the smoke burned the mucus membrane—I assumed this was from the flavoring that brought forth the sourness, or maybe the spiciness of the Kasturi. I only really noticed the rubbery latex flavor on the back end when pushing the smoke through my nose. The vanilla notes were something I chased throughout the smoking journey, catching it by its sweet coattails occasionally. It remained elusive and possibly a figment of my imagination. Finally, the herbal flavor only surfaced two or three times per bowl, but when it did, it was pleasant—a savory herbal flavor reminiscent of something you’d cook with. The sweet flavor that usually accompanies smoking out of a corncob pipe was absent until the very end of the bowl, peeking through during the final lights.
Room Notes:
Normally I’d rely on my wife to tell me about the room notes. However, she is battling a cold and her schnoz is not to be trusted at this time. My adult, non-smoking son said, “It smells like basic tobacco with a touch of sweetness. Smells good.” He gave it a 3 out of 5 for room note....Read More

f mine, and one that will be a staple in my cellar.
It will ghost your pipe, though. That's not necessarily a bug. It's a feature. I don't think CD does this to cover up inferior tobacco, but I would have a dedicated pipe for maximum enjoyment. Try it out on a cheapy cob pipe. I for one, will be buying a nice pipe specifically for this one....Read More

Lots of flavors to unpack, the dark fired and cigar leaf make it rich. The topping makes it interesting.
BTW, I smoked this while drinking a port wine, something I often do with a cigar. Try it, you may like it and discover something new about tobacco and your less boring self . Anyway, I love it!...Read More
